Well, we do know that his ex-girlfriend (Jean Frances Tatlock) was a straight-up commie. She committed suicide shortly after supposedly having a final fling with a then married Oppenheimer. I wonder if the movie covers this.

The Oppenheimer movie with the Peaky Blinders actor has a steep hill to climb.
I read the sentence as suggesting he was proud of Communism and wanted Russia to return to it. I wouldn’t want anyone in our government longing for some of the worst times and attitudes of our history.
Commies in the early sixties in Chicago knew what happened. What I was told at the time was all of our scientists were ‘buttered up’ with the BS about how ONLY THEY could ‘save the world’ by making it a level playing field so both sides would balance each other out ... That THEY could stop the these weapons from being used in the future. They would be the ‘saviors’ of humanity by sharing information with the other side (Russia)

According to the story (and the story was dripping with hatred for Americans), the only holdout was Edward Teller. Teller wouldn’t talk. Wouldn’t listen to them. Shut them out. It’s hard for me to describe their hatred pf Teller... which added credibility to the story.
And Teller as well as Von Nueman xperienced communism in their youth - short lived but extremely bloody Bela Kuhn regime in Hungary.
Teller didnt fall for their phony “its immoral” to build the hydrogen bomb. If the US didnt build it, he knew the Soviets would. Oppenheimer, Bethe, Bohr..they all knew damn well the kind of Physics the Soviets were doing. Thankfully Truman listened to Teller...

Once you experience it or dealt with these people you know all you need to know about the nature of evil. And I’m not talking about the dupes - the silly students and idiots who believe the cover story - I mean the folks who know what it’s really all about.

It Is Completely Reasonable To Wonder If Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, Charles Schumer are Communist Spies.

They were celebrated hero's of the Left because they betrayed America and gave the Communist USSR the nuclear bomb.
Yet the Left defended the Rosenbergs publicly and loudly proclaimed their innocence for decades until the disclosures after. the fall of the Soviet Union proved their guilt beyond any shadow of a doubt.
Some on the Left still proclaim their innocence, even after the proof has been out there for 30 years.
Amazingly, the Russian intelligence operative that worked with the Rosenbergs was furious that anyone could doubt or deny the Rosenberg's role in giving the USSR the knowledge and technology to build nuclear weapons.
To him, the Rosenbergs were brave Hero's of The Soviet Union who gave their lives for the cause and should be celebrated and given full credit for their invaluable contributions to the USSR.
And Stanislaus Ulam whose Poland had experienced Russia in all its iterations!
I’ve read that E. Lawrence and L. Alvarez supported Teller’s work on the “Super”. If so, they also deserve honorable mention as patriots.
