Bernie Sanders funneled $200K in campaign cash to wife and stepson's nonprofit institute, records reveal

FIRST ON FOX: Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders quietly funneled $200,000 from his campaign's coffers to his wife's nonprofit institute, which appears to do very little work and pays six figures' worth of compensation to her son, Fox News Digital has found.

The independent senator's committee cut two $100,000 checks to the Sanders Institute for reported charitable contributions in January and March, its Federal Election Commission records show. The expenditures are the largest from the Sanders campaign to any entity this election cycle.

The senator's wife, Jane O'Meara Sanders, and stepson, David Driscoll, co-established the Sanders Institute in 2017 to act as a think tank to promote progressive voices, The Washington Post wrote at its launch.

"The purpose is to revitalize democracy in the support of progressive institutions," Jane Sanders told the Post. "Our feeling is at our point in time, our country is at a crossroads, and people are engaged in a political process that can be opaque."

"A vital democracy requires an informed electorate, civil discourse, and bold thinking," she continued. "So we put together this team to focus on issues, but not in a partisan way, not in a way that just focuses on the latest crazy thing. It will not be about Trump; it will be about the issues facing the country."

Just two years after its launch, in 2019, the institute announced it would suspend operations as Sen. Sanders sought the Democratic nomination for president to avoid the "appearance of impropriety" and presumably to take away a line of attack from his rivals over its money.

The institute has since quietly resumed operations while seemingly sidestepping media attention. Its latest publicly available tax forms from 2021 show the nonprofit burnt nearly 40% of its donations on salaries while appearing to conduct minimal work...

--- "Corruption IS Communism."

Succinct and true.

There has not been an authoritarian system of governance which has not been turned to highly reward its leaders.

Bernie was for so many decades the most Leftist and only Communist in Congress. Now he’s one of many. They all know how to rake in the money, and in good Communist fashion redistribute the wealth...to their family members.

Bernie Sanders quietly funneled $200,000 ...

So? Are we so naive as to not realize these people spend millions to get a job that pays thousands purely so they can get fabulously wealthy from the insider deals? What? You thought the bidens and kennedys and company are .. altruistic? (chuckle; chuckle)

Bernie Sanders funneled $200K in campaign cash to his
wife and stepson’s “nonprofit institute,” records reveal
<><>the “institute” appears to do very little work WRT its stated mission
<><>it does pay her son a six figure compensation but doesnt say what for.

The money came from socialist Bernie’s stash of about $100 million accumulated from his profitable, but losing, attempt at “running for president.”

FEC records show Sanders cut two $100,000 checks to the “Institute” reportedly for “charitable contributions” in January and March....the largest from the Sanders campaign to any entity this election cycle.

The senator’s wife, Jane O’Meara Sanders, and stepson, David Driscoll, co-established the “Sanders Institute” in 2017 to act as a think tank “to promote progressive voices,” the Washington Post dutifully reported at its launch.

Sanders is not alone. Politicians of both parties use campaign funds, through various means, to employ relatives and friends. Foundations , book deals, insider securities trading, lucrative speaking engagements, travel on private aircraft, and private investment deals are some of the many schemes used by elected officials to turn influence and access into personal wealth.

Most US Senators are quiet regarding the Biden influence peddling corruption because they are already on the gravy train. When was the last time the Senate ethics committee took action against a member? John McCain, John Glenn and three other Senators were owned by financier Charles Keating in the early 1990’s. The Keating Five skated even though their benefactor went to prison. New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez, current chair of the powerful Senate Foreign Relations Committee, has been involved in numerous personal finance scandals, yet he escapes every time. Recently retired NC Senator Richard Burr was insider trading based on knowledge gained in closed intelligence committee meetings prior to Covid lockdowns, yet he was investigated and give a pass by the Senate ethics committee, the DOJ, and the SEC.

Bernie Sanders is a lightening rod for the conservative right. Yet his shady dealings are small potatoes compared to his powerful colleagues in the Senate. Bernie moves a couple of hundred thousand from his campaign funds to a foundation benefiting a relative. His Senate friends are moving millions and tens of millions into their net worth through various schemes.

A corporate lobbyist once told me only honest people in Congress are those who were independently wealthy when they were elected or those who leave office at the end of their first term in disgust. The business of Washington is not governance. It is pay to play influence peddling on a grand scale.

Get a lawyer to cook up a piece of paperwork, generate some flowery words and collect a 6 figure salary. Not bad work if you can get it.

What authorizes a politician to use public campaign intended for campaign expenses for contributions to his favorite “charity” for which they were never intended? Can he buy a home with them too?

“The purpose is to revitalize democracy in the support of progressive institutions,” Jane Sanders told the Post”

The rule of opposites.

The truth:

“We support the ‘con’ in contributors. The purpose is to keep us living in the lifestyle to which we have become accustomed. Have a nice day, suckers.”

Excellent post—100% accurate.

After stealing a bunch of money they then whine about how “campaign finance reform” is needed.

They have no shame.

Again, we know that if Sanders belonged to the other party, this would be the crime of the century. Justice is not equal. I guess it’s what the Democrats would call “equitable “.
