Man pistol-whipped victim for interrupting 'voodoo style' ritual, Orlando police say

ORLANDO, Fla. —

On Tuesday evening, Orlando police say a man performing a ritual inside a home became angry, brandished multiple weapons and hurt people living there.

Around 9 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence following reports of gunfire.

Officers encountered Fenel Dalexis, 46, who reportedly fired his gun within the home. Police guided everyone out, and an injured female victim emerged. Dalexis was scratched up so badly that he and the injured female were taken to the hospital.

According to the report, Dalexis engaged in a “voodoo style” ritual in the home. A fight broke out when the victim interfered with the ritual by pouring water on the candles, police say. At one point, Dalexis reportedly wielded a baton, and the victim became increasingly in fear for her life.

The situation escalated as Dalexis allegedly retrieved a firearm, which he then allegedly used to strike the victim's face before discharging multiple rounds. The victim's younger brother was also injured during the incident, sustaining a grazing gunshot wound.

Based on the visible injuries and the statements provided, law enforcement established probable cause to charge Dalexis with multiple serious offenses, including attempted felony murder with a firearm, aggravated battery, aggravated assault with a firearm, and various counts of child abuse.

Boy howdy Orlando sure has gone to being a💩hole since I was there visiting Relatives when I was about 10 years old (early 70’s) and we would ride bicycles around town and no weird stuff going on.

When I grew up in Orlando some decades ago, seeing a “voodoo ritual” meant that you had gone to the Saturday horror movie feature at the Beecham downtown on a summer afternoon along with hundreds of other screaming kids. Now we get the real voodoo thing in Orlando because our lives are so much richer due to immigration from places that practice voodoo. Or so we are told.
