NYC’s disgusting pot stench is keeping tourists away
NY Post ^ | 9/01/23 | Johnny Oleksinski

It’s not just prissy European tennis players who can’t stand it. Every single person who visits New York City is disgusted by our unofficial new scent: marijuana.

And the truth is, so are most sane New Yorkers.

As The Post reported on Friday’s front page, everywhere you go in the five boroughs now reeks of pot. Expense-account restaurants such as Nobu 57 and ritzy stores like Saks Fifth Avenue have the musty whiff of a college dorm room. Puffing stoners are turning the subway’s 123 into CBD.

Even the US Open in Flushing Meadows is practically an open-air drug market.

Greek tennis player Maria Sakkari, who lost in the first round of the grand slam this week, told reporters she was distracted by something she sniffed during the match.

“It was weed,” the No. 8 player in the world said. “The smell, oh, my gosh.”

German ace Alexander Zverev spoke of blunts more bluntly: “Court 17 definitely smells like Snoop Dogg’s living room.”

These are Europeans we’re talking about! Most Americans think of that party-hardy continent as far more freewheeling and permissive than the US when it comes to sex, drugs and booze consumption. Well, we’ve shocked ‘em all this time.

Ever since NYC reopened to international tourists, put-off visitors have commented on our putrid fragrance. They’d grown accustomed to our summers of roasting garbage, but it’s the pot smoke that makes them dry heave.

Recently, a friend visiting from London succinctly summarized his trip to me.

“The magic is gone,” he said.

Even in little old Fairbanks, the skunk-ass stinks up town all over the place. I flipping hate it.
And yes, it’s funny and sad that most of the tards that smoke it are also the ones against cigarettes and are supposedly for personal freedom. While their stench invades upon all our lives. 😡

Believe me, pot and horse manure do not smell the same. Horse manure smell is preferable.

And the beauty of Colorado has been destroyed by the odiferous stench of MJ - significantly worse since they decriminalized its use! How unfortunate!

Some folks have a bad reaction to pot- I’m one of those folks-

Back in my idiot years, Pot, even a little bit of it, like a 1/2 hit or so, is enough to make me paranoid for a few hours- high anxiety, paranoia- and it’s really stupid paranoia too, like parking in a spot and trying to veg but thinking “oh crap, someone probably saw me driving erratically, parking crooked, blah blah blah, and I get all paranoid so eone is gonna cal. The cops lol- it takes awhile to wear off too. I have never liked pot. I would not enjoy walking around getting a contact high from pot smoke- thankfully there isn’t much where we live. I wouldn’t crusade agaisnt it, but I certainly would be negatively affected by it.

1 kilogram of weed emits 3600 kg of CO2.

One kilogram of pure carbon will completely oxidize to 3.67 kg of carbon dioxide.

When I was young, pot was lots of fun. Laughing at anything, poring over Zap comics, thinking heavy thoughts, all that stuff. By my late 20s, I was reacting to it as you describe. Then it wasn’t fun, so I stopped using it. Now, nearly 40 years later, I think sometimes about trying it again (no worries about drug tests since retirement), but why bother?

Yep- ther are 2 types of folks when it comes to the, those that have pleasant experience, and those that freak out consistently- I was never in the first category, and that was probsbly a good thing as being the idiot I was, I mighta wasted tons of money on it if I had been.

I tried cbd for sleep, issues recently, and the cbd was “nearly the free”, and the first time I did a dose, the paranoia hit like a ton of bricks again. I went in and laid down and tried to sleep it off, but was still ridiculously paranoid. After awhile, though, with lower doses, the cbd didn’t do thst to me anymore, but if I went back to the normal dose, blam- paranoia.

They do have cbd with higher amounts of the though that you can legally buy in many states- there is a legal cutoff for some states, but their products like gummies fall just below the cutoff.

And for the record, the cbd did help —slightly—, but not enough to call home about, so I quit taking it as it was expensive, but I do have a massive discount at Lazarus naturals because of my condition. But even with th3 discount, the amount of help wasn’t worth the cost each month.

You are correct. I’ve done my share of cleaning horse stalls, and I’ll guarantee that the two scents are not the same.

Several years ago, my nieces and I went to LA to visit my aunt. Nieces wanted to see Hollywood Blvd. What a squalid dump — Definitely not what you see on TV! AND, the smell! I will never get that smell out of my head! It was putrid and indescribable! Can’t imagine what it is like now! YUCK!

It has been over 55 years since I smelled pot. I probably wouldn’t recognize it if I smelled it today. But horse manure can be a pleasant smell.
