MP3 players record. No idea on the allowed duration. I assume plenty can be recorded with an inserted 128gig card.

If it is simple audio, any decent digital recorder will do will. I use a Sony ICD-UX560. Good to have two, one for backup.
I once had two digital recorders both going, and both failed me!

I’ve never tried it. A phone with a memory card should sound pretty good. Just keep it plugged into the charger.
