They lost- major country DJs refused to play their records- and they... receded into passe and their past. Country music has been political- on the side of real Americans with real American problems. Example: Okie from Muskogee” Merle Haggard. And “Ain’t Goin’ Back to Brokeback Mountain-(That s—t ain’t right)— Willie Nelson! (hilarious in fact).
Maren Morris did perform together with Taylor Swift...In the Reputation Tour many years ago...She performed with Taylor in the Eras Tour...At Chicago...Eras Tour is not finished yet...

My opinion is that there were conservatives in country music even before Trump moved into White House in January 2017...
