Hoodie-loving John Fetterman will now HAVE to wear a shirt and tie in the Senate: Joe Manchin's resolution enforcing formal wear is unanimously adopted

The great sartorial scandal over John Fetterman's signature hoodie-and-shorts has now come to a close after the Senate unanimously passed a resolution enacting a formal dress code.

The resolution, brought forth by fellow Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin, W. Va., passed without a formal vote by unanimous consent and clarified that the Senate floor would have a formal dress code.

Hours earlier, Fetterman had already announced he would wear a suit and tie while speaking or presiding over the Senate floor. Fetterman, like others, could still wear his trademark garb and vote from the cloak room on the edge of the Senate floor.

'Though we've never had an official dress code, the events over the past week have made us all feel as though formalizing one is the right path forward,' Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said on the Senate floor.

Last week Schumer had eliminated the unofficial dress code, prompting outcry from conservatives and even some liberals.

'For 234 years, every senator who has had the honor of serving in this distinguished body has assumed there was some basic written rules of decorum, conduct and civility, one of which was a dress code,' said Manchin.

But because the dress code didn't really exist, Manchin and Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, decided to write one.

Earlier this week Fetterman called on his colleagues to get as fired-up about New Jersey Sen. Bob Menendez's bribery indictment as they were about his outfits.

'This week, I hope to see my colleagues fully address the alleged systemic corruption of Senator Menendez with the same vigor and velocity they brought to concerns about our dress code,' Fetterman said in a statement Tuesday.

The fact this is even an issue is ridiculous, letting a complete slob suffering from brain damage to get away with his actions should be stopped immediately

I agree with this...

They should have to dress decent while they’re stealing our shit.

Is it possible that he’s so brain damaged that he can’t fasten buttons or tie a tie himself?

Similar reason the Bill of Rights was amended to the Constitution.

It was at first assumed that those rights were sort of “common knowledge” and the states would enact them on their own if need be. On second thought, they figured they better put them in the Constitution now.

No he’s been doing it before Schumer changed the rule and allowed him to start dressing like a slob, most people having been elected to the US Senate would have enough respect for the institution to show up for work looking professional

This is the same mentality when you see people kneeling for the National Anthem, they are basically pissing on the country that has given them everything

I would have been OK with Fetterman’s wearing a coat JACKET, TIE and shorts. ;-)

They do have clip-on ties that even an imbecile like Fetterman can put on with staff assistance.

The idiot’s tough-guy demeanor was played well. Unlikely his fellow commie thugs will care it this point as they drift unprincipled in their own dishonest fantasies of low expectations.

I was just wondering how a fetterman might look in a straight jacket with a stylish tie.

Exactly.

Akin to telling people they have to use the toilet instead of the floor. Civilized people shouldn’t have to introduce and enforce common decency rules.

Decorum is on my WOTD vocabulary list this week in class. I will use this sentence for the weekly words in context quiz! By the way, everyone should dress for their job!

Little boys are dressed a certain way when they are toddlers.
John Fetterman is dressed like a toddler for the same reasons.

The USA has become the Comedy Central channel for the rest of the world. And what depressing comedy it is. The president of Brazil must wake up every morning and look forward to the latest dysfunctional “national enquirer” type news coming out of the USA. Probably reads before he even has breakfast...for entertainment and joking material when he gets together with friends.

If you think about it, this is a microcosm of what is going on in the streets. Normal people having to deal with the erratic behavior of a few miscreants. Kudos to Manchin and his sidekick Romney for putting their collective foot down.
