A Brazilian fugitive wanted for murder has been arrested nearly 7,000 miles away on Martha's Vineyard, living among America's rich and famous.
Hiago Ornela-Da Silva was captured by federal agents in Edgartown, Massachusetts on Thursday.
Ornela-Da Silva went on the run in February last year after being named as a murder suspect in Barra de Sao Francisco in the Brazilian state of Espirito Santo.
It is not clear how the illegal immigrant made his way to Martha's Vineyard, but US Immigration and Customs Enforcement said he had entered the country illegally on multiple occasions dating back to 2007.
The billionaire enclave was last year a destination for migrants who were sent north by Republican Florida Governor Ron de Santis in a bid to highlight the Democrats disastrous border policy.
'The arrest of this Brazilian noncitizen demonstrates our commitment to prioritizing enforcement and removal efforts against unlawfully present noncitizens who are wanted for crimes in their home countries,' said Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Boston Field Office Director Todd Lyons.
The agency said the fugitive first illegally entered the US as a minor in December 2007 and was removed by a judge in June 2008.
He filed to rescind that removal in July 2008, which was granted in August 2008. But was again ordered to leave the country in January 2009.
In August 2009 he left the US through the John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
Officials said he then unlawfully reentered the country at an unknown date and location without being inspected. He will remain in custody pending his extradition.
Noncitizens placed into removal proceedings receive their legal due process from federal immigration judges in the immigration courts, which are administered by the Justice Department’s Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR).

Not sure how he got here, WTF are you talking about?
Looks like “sanctuary” Martha’s Vineyard missed one when they thought they had evicted all of the “rabble.”

Removal from a Democrat “billionaire enclave”
If only he had gone to a poor, lower class neighborhood, they wouldn’t have botheree.
He was on the island to register to vote as a Democrat.
Entering the US multiple times

It always puzzles me how can somebody be removed (an expensive process) and then come right back.
Isn’t it “once removed, you can never come back again?”
When caught, such an individual should be put in jail and then deported automatically.
There have always been lots of Portuguese on the Vineyard so a Brazilian would fit right in…….
….
Entering the country multiple times illegally means one can vote multiple times illegally
Better cut off 1 finger each time caught entering for easy identification by border patrol.
How does one enter an area with no borders ‘illegally?
He was probably one of those “pool boys” for the lazy rich gals.
Ah, you know those smooth Brazilians! Must have charmed his way into the upper classes. Bet he had the ladies swooning!
No, after reentry and arrest should be deported by plane beyond 12 miles and exited from the aircraft from 20K feet.
(on Martha’s Vineyard, living among America’s rich and famous.)
ROTFLOL 🤣
More gaslighting.
I have a feeling there are hundreds of thousands of criminals who have illegally entered our country undetected.
NAW!!....Hang’um high.
1. Only Demonstrated in billionaire enclaves...
2. You know stopping them at the border would be more effective....
