Violent crime was up 3.7 percent in 2022 in California even as violent crime rates dropped across the country, according to new FBI crime data released this week.
Nationally, violent crime was down slightly, by 1.7 percent to pre-pandemic levels, according to the 2022 Crime In the Nation report from the FBI. At the same time, property crimes — especially auto theft — rose considerably, by 7.1 percent nationally and 7.6 percent in California.

The report comes with a caveat, however. In the past, the annual snapshot of crime in the United States has been criticized as missing data from some of the country's largest cities, including New York and Los Angeles. For the 2021 report, for example, only 62.7 percent of agencies representing just 64.8 percent of the U.S. population submitted data

I was just going to write about the crooked statistics and DAs not charging violent crimes, but you beat me to it.
Add crooked WOKE DAs to your list of reasons. I guess the DAs fall under Crooked Cities.
Government crime stats are just like their inflation stats — untrustworthy, crooked, and just plain gaslighting lies for the rubes. “Look! All is well! Trust Us!”

A gang looting a store is, technically, not a “violent crime” I guess.
I agree, it is a critically important and destructive activity.

That FBI that called unstable young men to see if they could egg them on to 'say something - anything' that would make it look like there really was a vast right wing conspiracy? All those years while Islamic terrorists filled our cities and crossed our borers? While crime robbed our cities of life - and the FBI - searching for the lone wolf that never seemed to do anything without 'help' from government thugs.
Well, the libs have made it where most violent crimes aren’t crimes anymore. Just “petty misdemeanors”. They’ve started classifying violent crimes as though they were just another violent but peaceful BLM protest.

This is nauseating garbage, there was something called BLM riots in 2020 that caused police to stop doing their jobs, and the murderers took advantage of that. There was a guy called George Floyd. The number of blacks murdered was about 3,000 greater in 2020 than in 2019, and that level has stayed about the same. So 9,000 more blacks were murdered than if George Floyd never existed.
