Matthew Perry has died at the age of 54, TMZ has reported.
The beloved “Friends” star was reportedly discovered dead in the jacuzzi of a home in Los Angeles’ ritzy Pacific Palisades neighborhood just after 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that first-responders rushed to the address with the call first reported as a cardiac arrest.
They added that no drugs found at the scene and no foul play is suspected.
In a statement, the Los Angeles Police Department stated: “We responded to the 1800 block of Blue Sail Rd for a death investigation on a male 4:10 pm this afternoon. He was in his 50s.”
Perry had a long history of drug and alcohol abuse, and opened up about his addictions in a memoir titled “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,” which was published last year.

Very sad. I’m Gen X —but never watched a single episode of Friends. That being said, I still thought Matthew Perry had that kind of nerdy smart guy hotness that drives me nuts, and he’s a year younger than I am — so I’m also very thankful for not dabbling that much in the chemicals.
Sad. I pray that he is in a better place.
Very tragic. I have a good friend who used to be his girlfriend, but maintained their friendship to today. He overcame many chemical demons and lost a lot of weight. What a shame.
btw, LOTTA f-bombs. Even I had to shut it down for a while.
That said, the poignant introduction is worth listening to with the retrospect of his passing.

His history suggests his heart would have taken quite a beating over the years. People with some heart and/or blood pressure issues need to stay out of hot tubs. It is very, very easy in a short time to have plummeting BP. My doctor told me of one case he knew.
Years ago I sat in a hot tub too long…..I could not stand up to get out without help .
