This is why they tell you to get to the airport 2 HOURS EARLY.
Welcome to one of the busiest days in the entire year for air travel.
This is @Reagan_Airport at ~6am on the eve of Thanksgiving 2023.
VIDEO AT LINK...................
Years ago, I got in the habit of traveling ON THANKSGIVING DAY. Much less traveling, more seats on the planes, less time at the airport. Worst case is we get our turkey on Saturday.
Never travel during holidays if you can help it. Even during the slowest times of the year airports stress me the hell out. Too many what ifs. That security line is insane.
We have TSA Pre-Check. Problem is, nowadays, so does everyone else.
If everybody is ‘special’, then nobody is ‘special’..............

Same for me. I was living in Houston and family lived in Seattle. It was fabulous being on a plane that was half full. never missed a turkey dinner.
The bombing in Niagara Falls will only make it worse.
That's an Incredible saying.
Terrorism would cease to exist in a matter of months. Possibly along with a few bothersome countries that we would never miss.
“If everybody is ‘special’, then nobody is ‘special’..............”
And then they always come up with a way to make somebody ‘extra special’.
Exactly.
I haven’t flown since I retired several years ago, and have absolutely no desire to ever fly again. If I have to go any distance I will drive myself or take the train.
I remember, back in the 60s, when there was a gun store at the Denver airport on the concourse near the gates of either United or American (cannot remember which)...
Bought my first S&W .357 there while waiting for a flight...
In flight it got passed around to other passengers to examine & admire...
NBD!
On the Sunday after Thanksgiving 2010, I hugged my wife and kids and left home I. Detroit area headed for a new job in Baltimore. (Jenny Granholm was Governess and destroyed Michigan)
A buddy from home was stationed at the Pentagon and rode with me. What should have been a 9 hour drive took over 15 hours.
I was rethinking my decision (tempered by my unemployed status and the severity of the Depression in Michigan) Them I realized it’s Thanksgiving.
We’re in Western Michigan now. Probably going to head east midday Sunday.
I can’t even imagine facing holiday air travel right now. If we can’t drive we don’t go.
My niece is flying tomorrow. Lands at 10, The Feast is at one - she has a two hour drive. Tight schedule, so I hope her flight isn’t cancelled, nobody on board (pilot, copilot, etc) has a ‘medical emergency’, no diversity hire air traffic controller screws up, & her flight lands safely & on time.
Not as bad if you avoid traveling on Tuesday/Wednesday before Thanksgiving and Sunday after Thanksgiving.
