College Football Playoff: Someone is going to be angry Five teams have legitimate cases. Only four teams will get a berth.

The Nightmare in Grapevine is upon us.

What is often a formality — making four obvious choices for the four-team College Football Playoff — is anything but for the committee this year.

The 13-member group, huddled in a hotel in Grapevine, Texas, will have to make the most consequential and controversial decision in its 10-year existence — and in the final season before the playoff expands to 12 teams. Their decision will be revealed at noon Sunday on ESPN.

Big Ten champion Michigan (13-0) and Pac-12 champion Washington (13-0) are assumed to be safely in. They’ll almost assuredly be the No. 1 and 2 seeds, respectively.

After that, there are three teams for two spots and there is no obvious answer.

The 4-team playoff is going to go out with a bang as one team's fanbase is going to go pitchfork. Somehow I made it through the offensively challenged ACC Championship. The Seminoles defense absolutely dominated Louisville. I was watching the game and thinking what a fraud the Cardinals were.

If you took Iowa under 0.5 team total for the first half at even money you won!!!

P.S.: I was watching the SEC Championship game and the broadcast continuously showed a groups of I assume Bama students in the first rows of the end zone with the men in jackets and ties and the women in what appeared to be identical business ware too. They had name tags. Anybody know who they were, some frat and sorority?

Too bad they can’t force a play in game between Bama and FSU, it’s what should happen. Whichever team gets left out will be rightfully ticked off.

Florida State is the odd man out, IMO.

Betting Georgia gets dropped.

Texas beat Alabama who beat Georgia.

Huge loss for GA yesterday - huge win for Alabama.

But then Alabama’s win over Auburn was almost a fluke with a “Hail Mary” pass working at the very end.

I suppose you could make a case for seven teams, to include Georgia and Ohio State, if the playoffs were expanded to eight teams. But then there would be an argument about who would be #8 (probably Oregon).

It’s the group that does tours on campus. I forget their names, but they wear the same thing on tours.

It was quite a contrast to Duke where the tour guide was in cut off shorts and a t-shirt.

My daughter went to Bama. With over a 4.0 GPA and a 35 on her ACT, she could have gone to Duke.

FSU definitely has the weakest schedule, and they’re nowhere near as competitive since Jordan Travis got injured.

If I were on that committee, my Top 4 would be Michigan, Washington, Texas, and Alabama, in that order.

FSU and UGA are out. UGA has the better case, but the loss to Bama will keep them out.

I don’t see the controversy.

1. Michigan
2 Washington
3. Texas
4. Alabama
5. FSU
6. Georgia

Alabama beat the no. 1 team, FSU did not.
Texas beat Alabama and should be in the top 4

OTOH they will probably do something that will piss everyone off

1. Michigan
2.Washington
3. Texas
4. FSU
5. Alabama
6. Georgia

I agree. I really don’t see any controversy here, except in the mind of this mental masturbator who wrote the article.

FSU should be odd man out. Bama should be in.

Unfortunately the reverse will happen.

No way they leave a one loss SEC team out of the playoffs even with an undefeated ACC team. The two conferences aren’t even close.

Texas doesn’t deserve it losing a bad game to a mediocre football team but the committee will give them a spot after the Longhorms smashed an equally mediocre Oklahoma State squad.

Michigan-Washington-Texas-Alabama

!. Michigan (Is Harbaugh still on suspension for the first playoff game?)
2. Washington
3. Texas
4. Bama

Michigan vs Alabama

I see Bama winning this in regulation handily.

Washington vs Texas

Texas wins in the last 2 minutes of the game.

Texas vs Bama

Bama wins in overtime

Final rankings

1. Bama
2. Texas
3. Michigan
4. Washington

You can take this to the bank, and anyone who disagrees with me, can take a shower,

I don't recall minor-league baseball every having a playoff, so why should the NFL's minor-league system have a playoff?

Oh, that's right, There is a lot more money involved in (NFL) minor-league football.
