My Italian grandfather used to make his own root beer. Sadly, I never got to try a homemade one.

The one good thing about American cheese is that it’s individually wrapped and never seems to expire, which is a bit frightening.

Most of these foods are made with corn, sweet potatoes or pumpkins. Things that are not often found in Europe who is who they must be talking about when they burble about "people" finding them "confusing". Because no, not really.

In places where European taste do not rule these foods are indeed found and enjoyed.

I like a few of these things.

Grits, hush puppies and Gumbo are good in the South. Enjoyed them as a kid when we drove from Chicago to New Orleans on Easter vacations to visit my fabulous grandmother there.

I also like Ambrosia salad. But I’m a female. Men probably look at it and wince.

Because Americana is fun and lots of us enjoy a break from the political hassle.

I like Ambrosia as well, but I never see it anymore in Oregon. My sister used to make it for Easter and Thanksgiving, when she still cooked.

I’m on a FB group called “Rate My Plate”which is mostly Brits. Sausage (aka “sosig”), mash, fried fish, chips (fries), mince, yorkshire pudding, beans, and 3 or 4 fried eggs on every-damn-thing. And with brown sauce sloshed all over, of course. That’s it, that’s the entire British food menu. Throw in mushy peas if you’re eating at a chippy with some nasty looking curry sauce, and don’t even ask about a “full English breakfast”. So British kids or adults have no right to hold an opinion about American food!
