The Best Regional Fast Food Chains In Every State
Mashed ^ | 8/4/21 | Gene Gerrard

When you think of a fast food chain, the usual suspects come to mind: McDonald's, Chick-fil-A, KFC, Burger King. In recent years, the restaurant industry has changed to referring to fast food places as quick-service restaurants (QSR), and the new-ish hybrid of fast food and casual-dining restaurants (like Applebee's) is called fast casual. Where the definitions blur is with regional fast food chains, meaning a QSR that usually started out in a particular state as a mom-and-pop shop and gained a devoted following thus enabling them to grow.

Sometimes it's a few stores that don't cross state lines. Other times, they expand nationally. Most times, though, they're known for their specialties in their region. The regional fast food chains we explore here have personality, quirks, and often, delicious food you can't get anywhere else in the U.S. If you're planning a road trip or visiting family or friends, check out our list of the best regional fast food chains in every state

The article goes through all 50 states, the one that looked the best was,

Indiana: Schoop's Hamburgers,

And what is with WAWA, in PA, never heard of them.

First I heard of them was this year or last....as venues for marauding feral mobs.

In-n-Out is IMHO the best fast food. It is consistently good and fresh. Far more than anyone else is. Franchise operations are notorious for problems mostly related from cheap owners who skip on cleanliness, good employees, and facility maintainance.

Arkansas: Slim Chickens

Meh, we found that they're only so-so. Chicken was nothing special. Over-reliance on an included piece of "Texas Toast," which was also nothing special.

FWIW, I'm like Arby's menu. They have a greek gyro sandwich that slays.

In North Carolina it has to be Char Grill. A burger Mecca in Raleigh-Durham area for over 50 years. Ask any NC State alum over 40.

Eegee’s for best in Arizona? No. Just no. I kind of like Filiberto’s, though it can vary quite a bit from one location to another.

The problem with Whataburger is that the Texas family owners sold out to a fast-food corporation, based in Chicago if that matters. Quality took a nosedive...

Milo’s in Alabama is raunchy. Its like eating a salt lick. Jack’s would have been a better choice.
