Not-So-Scary Truth About Climate Change: The Positive Effects like Global Greening.
Epoch Times ^ | 12/18/2023 | John Stossel

Posted on 12/18/2023 9:12:20 PM PST by SeekAndFind

United States Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry says it will take trillions of dollars to “solve” climate change. Then he says, “There is not enough money in any country in the world to actually solve this problem.”

Kerry has little understanding of money or how it’s created. He’s a multimillionaire because he married a rich woman. Now he wants to take more of your money to pretend to affect climate change.

Bjorn Lomborg points out that there are better things society should spend money on.

Lomborg acknowledges that a warmer climate brings problems. “As temperatures get higher, sea water, like everything else, expands. So we’re going to maybe see three feet of sea level rise. Then they say, ‘So everybody who lives within three feet of sea level, they’ll have to move!’ Well, no. If you actually look at what people do, they built dikes and so they don’t have to move.”

People in Holland did that years ago. A third of the Netherlands is below sea level. In some areas, it’s 22 feet below. Yet the country thrives. That’s the way to deal with climate change: adjust to it.

Fewer people are going to get flooded every year, despite the fact that you have much higher sea level rise. The total cost for Holland over the last half-century is about $10 billion,” says Lomborg. “Not nothing, but very little for an advanced economy over 50 years.”

For saying things like that, Lomborg is labeled “the devil.”

“The problem here is unmitigated scaremongering,” he replies. “A new survey shows that 60 percent of all people in rich countries now believe it’s likely or very likely that unmitigated climate change will lead to the end of mankind. This is what you get when you have constant fearmongering in the media.”

Some people now say they will not have children because they’re convinced that climate change will destroy the world. Lomborg points out how counterproductive that would be: “We need your kids to make sure the future is better.”

He acknowledges that climate warming will kill people.

“As temperatures go up, we’re likely to see more people die from heat. That’s absolutely true. You hear this all the time. But what is underreported is the fact that nine times as many people die from cold. ... As temperatures go up, you’re going to see fewer people die from cold. Over the last 20 years, because of temperature rises, we have seen about 116,000 more people die from heat. But 283,000 fewer people die from cold.”

That’s rarely reported in the news.

When the media doesn’t fret over deaths from heat, they grab at other possible threats.

CNN claims, “Climate Change is Fueling Extremism.”

The BBC says, “A Shifting Climate is Catalysing Infectious Disease.”

U.S. News and World Report says, “Climate Change will Harm Children’s Mental Health.”

Lomborg replies, “It’s very, very easy to make this argument that everything is caused by climate change if you don’t have the full picture.”

He points out that we rarely hear about positive effects of climate change, like global greening.

“That’s good! We get more green stuff on the planet. My argument is not that climate change is great or overall positive. It’s simply that, just like every other thing, it has pluses and minuses. ... Only reporting on the minuses, and only emphasizing worst-case outcomes, is not a good way to inform people.”

So called climate change is just a scam to implement communism into our lives and I’m not buying it, even though I do believe good stewardship of the earth God created is important.

This article misses the big picture. Is man made CO2 a going to raise temperatures. I claim it will not. Next to Oxygen in the Periodic table of elements is Flourine. It is a very reactive gas and chemists actually died trying to get a pure sample. With one very rare exception it is not found in its elemental state anywhere in nature.

I mention this because Oxygen is nearly as reactive. Its chemical power is confirmed every time a match is lit. How did such a reactive element become 21% of our atmosphere? Plants . Because of the persistence of plants releasing oxygen into the air , we now take for granted the very air we breath . Huge deposits of iron oxide from the distant past reveal the long term effect of plants releasing oxygen. They simply pumped out enough so that the things that could react were saturated.

Those same plants take in the CO2 animals breath out and any other source of CO2. Plants have become so efficient at it that only .06% of the air is CO2. Earth is between two planets with CO2 as the dominate gas and yet it here on Earth it is relatively rare!

Obviously Mankind has added more CO2 but is it a problem plants can't handle? NASA did studies and found the world is a greener place because of all this extra CO2! Plants obviously are not quick to use it but their persistence always wins in the end . If they weren't you would not be breathing oxygen right now.

The climate is changing. It always has, and always will, regardless of what we do.

This is how you know its a scam. The corporate media NEVER EVER EVER reports on any of the benefits of a slightly warmer climate.

This, despite the fact that we know from the past that periods of warmer temperatures resulted in human flourishing - not catastrophe. In fact, the return of a colder climate made the land less productive, reduced crop yields, made people be more hungry and weakened the population right before the bubonic plague hit. The human population boomed during warmer periods and crashed during colder ones.

ie history tells us the EXACT OPPOSITE of what the corporate media is trying to get us to believe now.

CO2 is a life-giving gas. Without it no living creature would exist, yet, the EPA classifies it as a pollutant.

Earth has had much, much higher CO2 levels in the past. Right now Earth is at its lowest levels seen in a billion years at 420ppm. If the CO2 level of the planet were to get to below 150ppm all life would cease to exist. Back at the end of the Little Ice Age (about 1850) it dropped to around 250ppm.

Keep exhaling, driving your SUV, and using electricity. All life on the planet depends on it.

Not to mention many of the icy, unproductive areas like the Canadian Shield will suddenly become much better for living and agriculture. We had a 10 degree hotter earth in the Cretaceous. We know basically what it looks like.

I wrote this story a while back I think you might enjoy:

Yep. Look at the Northern hemisphere. Look at all that land that is permafrost. Look a bit south of that and though not permafrost, its Taiga and not very productive. You have to go further south still to get to economically productive land....there is a reason 90% of Canada’s population lives within 100 miles of the US border.

When it gets warmer, that zone of productive land moves farther north.

The Climate Change Activists, if given a choice, always seem to spend their vacations in Warm Sunny Places, like Tropical Islands, Hawaii, the Rivera, Costa Del Sol, Ibiza, Florida, and Bali.

They hardly ever go to Nunavut or Antarctica.

Just Sayin’.

Climate is a thermodynamic function of the earth’s surface, not its atmosphere. The atmosphere is too wimpy to play any significant role in climate. The only two atmospheric components that shape weather are water vapor and water condensate (fog, mist, rain, snow, etc.) None of the components of the atmosphere have the mass to trap/sustain thermal content.
Any time anybody discusses the atmosphere, that person is talking about weather, not climate.
The atmosphere converts the climate’s thermal content into weather and puffs it around.
