CCP has also moved into the US, they just bought property in Illinois for a battery plant. Demorat Governor
Saw a sign at the local salvage yard. “Absolutely no EV’s.” They have an impound yard. I’d guess, since they have a contract, they’d have to store one if it was impounded. But I’ll wager they park it far away from anything.
Thing is, nobody wants one sitting in their yard. Just sitting there they’re a danger. When more people realize that it will be impossible or very expensive to get rid of the things. A friend bought an old farm and there were several barrels of used engine oil. He took it to all of the places to dispose of stuff and was turned down. I asked what he did. He stuck a tube in each one and siphoned it onto the road as he drove around the county. People will be abandoning EV’s rather than suffer the cost of disposal.
When Chinese EVs enter the US market as they are doing in Europe, it will not be an option for the Detroit MFGs of moving plants to Mexico. It will be when do we file for bankruptcy.
Sad, true and funny at the same time
Yep, picture this: You live in a coastal area. The quickest way home is the oceanfront route. It is high tide, and an onshore breeze picks up to gale force. Salt water is coming over the seawall and suddenly you're in a foot and a half of it.
Salt water and lithium batteries are not a good combination, as saltwater exposure can harm lithium-ion batteries, and cause a chemical reaction which creates a high fire risk. Salt residue can create "bridges" between the battery's cells, potentially creating electrical connections that can spark a fire.
