G7 countries agree to postpone Ukraine’s national debt payment until 2027 - Ministry of Finance

Today, on December 21, Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhii Marchenko signed amendments to the Memorandum of Understanding on the suspension of payments on official debt with a group of official creditors of Ukraine from the G7 countries and the Paris Club.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, Censor.NET reports.
“Today’s signing will extend until the end of March 2027, which corresponds to the end of the current IMF EFF program, the Memorandum of Understanding on the suspension of payments on public and publicly guaranteed debt with a group of official creditors of Ukraine from the G7 countries and the Paris Club, which was signed on September 14, 2022,” the Ministry said.
The signatories were representatives of the governments of Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.
“I am grateful to our partners from the G7 countries for understanding Ukraine’s needs in the time of war. Today’s agreement on the revision of debt obligations allows us to reduce the burden on the budget until the end of the IMF program and save foreign currency liquidity to ensure social spending. This voluntary suspension of debt repayment is part of the USD 122 billion package of international support provided by Ukraine’s partners,” said Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhii Marchenko.
The Group of Official Creditors recognized the work of the Government of Ukraine in fulfilling the conditions of the IMF Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program and implementing important reforms, including in the area of debt policy, which will form the basis for the country’s economic recovery.
During the meeting, the Minister of Finance also emphasized the importance of preserving financial resources, in particular by providing Ukraine’s external private creditors with the most acceptable debt regime before the expiration of the debt service suspension period provided by them in August 2022.

The 112th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade purchased 1,500 drones and 200 quadcopters at Kyiv’s expense.
This was announced by Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klytschko during a visit to the brigade’s headquarters, Censor.NET reports.
“I visited the headquarters of the 112th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade. This is a brigade formed in Kyiv, whose battalions are fighting in the forefront today. Within a month, the military purchased 1,500 FPV drones and 200 Mavic 3 and Mavic 3T quadcopters for the funds allocated by the city. In total, the capital has allocated UAH 238 million to equip the brigade,” Klytschko said.
The mayor assured that the Kyiv community will continue to help the defenders.
Klytschko emphasized that this year Kyiv has spent a total of UAH 1 billion 550 million on the purchase of drones for the defenders.
He also said that today the second batch of drones, which he and his brother Volodymyr Klytschko ordered together, has been sent to the front line.
“In 2023, Kyiv allocated a total of UAH 1 billion 550 million for the purchase of drones at the request of the Armed Forces, the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense. In addition to assistance from the city budget, we attract resources, help from philanthropists and foreign partners. My brother Volodymyr constantly visits the soldiers on the front line. He sends cars, drones, and necessary equipment at the request of the soldiers. This week, my brother and I also sent 100 FPV drones to Avdiivka, to the 47th Brigade (Volodia bought them). Today, another hundred of the drones we ordered with him arrived. We will send them to the frontline as soon as possible,” Klytschko emphasized.

Earlier it was reported that the soldiers of the 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade “Magura”, who are defending Avdiivka, posted a video with footage of the transfer of 100 drones sent to them by the Klychko brothers. The defenders thanked the mayor of Kyiv and all Ukrainians for their support.
It was also reported that in 2023, Kyiv allocated more than UAH 7 billion to support the Armed Forces, which is 10% of the city’s budget.
