I followed the links, and I got “YouTube is not currently available on this device”. Anyway, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue is one of my all-time favorites! Gershwin was a musical genius!

[snip] The Hurrian Hymn No. 6 (h.6) is the world's oldest surviving substantially complete work of notated music. Discovered on clay tablet in the 1950s, it dates to 1400 BC in the Amorite-Canaanite city of Urgrit (present day Syria).

I'd had a long day at the office and decided to play this piece to unwind when I got home. I'm glad I pressed the record button because I think this take, although originally a warm-up to get into the mood to play, captured something of the music's magic.

I would normally edit out the first 20 seconds or so, but when I watched the clip, I thought it added something to the mood.

This recording is also a bit surreal because the juxtaposition of the age of the piece with the suburban background noises of birds, dinner being prepared by my loving wife, and an overhead plane. [/snip]

[snip] The Sensational Alex Harvey Band were a Scottish rock band formed in Glasgow in 1972. Fronted by Alex Harvey accompanied by Zal Cleminson on guitar, bassist Chris Glen, keyboard player Hugh McKenna and drummer Ted McKenna, their music was a blend of glam rock, blues rock and hard rock, with cabaret elements. Their stage performances incorporated theatrical elements. The band were popular in continental Europe, and influential in Australia, most notably on AC/DC (particularly their singer Bon Scott) and on the young Nick Cave and his first band The Boys Next Door. [snip] MY FATHER'S PLACE AT THE ROSLYN HOTEL

Very few songs capture the struggle of relationships and how hard it is to let go than Lose Again. From Karla's self-titled first album, this is one of the songs that opened up the world for Karla. This was also one of the first Karla songs Linda Ronstadt recorded. A multi-instrumentalist, Kenny Edwards was very instrumental in sharing Karla's music with Linda Ronstadt, as Kenny was a founding member of Linda's first band, Stone Poneys. Kenny produced and played on most of Karla's albums and they were friends and touring partners for 40+ years until Kenny's passing in 2010. Guitarist Nina Gerber provides lovely lead guitar work. [snip] The original from Neptune's Daughter

Neptune's Daughter is a 1949 musical romantic comedy film released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer starring Esther Williams, Red Skelton, Ricardo Montalbán, Betty Garrett, Keenan Wynn, Xavier Cugat and Mel Blanc. It was directed by Edward Buzzell, and features the Academy Award winning song Baby, It's Cold Outside by Frank Loesser.

I do not own any copyrights to this song or the movie and have only put it on here for the purposes of entertainment and enjoyment for the holidays. If you enjoy the song and this version of it I highly suggest getting the DVD or Blu-Ray of the movie. [/snip]

Restorated scenes capturing the summer of 1935 in Copenhagen and the coastal life. We see the Østerport station, the Klampenborg train, sailing at Hellerup, Dyrehaven, the Copenhagen harbor with loading of cargo ships, the animals in Jægersborg Hegn, Tivoli, beach life at Bellevue, the fishermen's wives, the city's castles and churches, Christianshavn and the playground at the rampart.

A viola duet arrangement of "Swallowtail Jig". One viola plays the original melody transposed down by a fifth, so it fits comfortably on the viola in first position. The other viola plays a newly composed harmony part.

This arrangement is part of my collection of 40 traditional tunes for viola duet.
