Musk warns against invading Russia

During a discussion on military plans over the ages on his platform, X (previously Twitter), tech entrepreneur Elon Musk insisted on never invading Russia.

Musk argued in a post on Thursday that Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson, a British naval commander in the 18th and early 19th centuries, was “incredible.” He also complimented Arthur Wellesley, the First Duke of Wellington, who was one of the military leaders who destroyed Napoleon in the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.

“Wellington is frequently underappreciated. “Not on Napoleon’s level, but still, in my opinion, one of the best generals in history,” SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk wrote.

One person responded to his comment by saying that Napoleon was “not so smart” when he started his unsuccessful Russian expedition in 1812.

Musk seemingly agreed with the notion, replying: “Just don’t invade Russia. It’s never a good idea.”

Invading Russia didn't work out so well for either Napoleon or Hitler.

So, yeah, I'd say Elon has a point.

We would never invade Russia anyway - nukes would fly long before that would happen.

Who’s advocating for invading “Russia”? There’s nothing there worth having.

this is like saying “While visiting Yellowstone, do not try to ride the Bison.”

Nonetheless, some people don’t even have that level of common sense.

The most underrated general of the 19th century is Michael Andreas Barclay de Tolly. In 1809 he captured Finland for Russia from Sweden without firing a shot, by marching his army over the frozen Gulf of Bothnia. Then when Napoleon invaded Russia in 1812, Barclay defeated him with his scorched earth defense, and then led the Russian army into Paris in 1814. Russia honored Barclay with a postage stamp on the 250th anniversary of his birth. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Andreas_Barclay_de_Tolly#/media/File:Barclay_de_Tolly_stamp_2011.jpg

It’s set up by the terrain. that’s why the outcome is always the same.

For Russia, there is an invasion route 200 miles wide between Karkiv and Belarus where it is all flat farmland with many parallel roads and no natural barriers until you reach the outskirts of Moscow.

Which is why NATO pretending that them being on that border is “not a threat to Russia” is a huge, deliberate lie.

Invasions from the West, sure, but the Mongols made short work of the Russians.

Musk is correct.

Horacio Nelson greatest naval
Commander. Egypt and Trafalga.

Duke Wellington awesome.
Napoleon was brilliant, Russia destroyed him.

Invading Russia stupid. I agree. Everything in Russia should be internal.

"Who’s advocating for invading “Russia”?"

No one. It is a false response to a false accusation. No one is any authority is calling for invading Russia.

Everyone other than Russia wants them to stop invading its neighbors.
