I found this great gem today and I just had to upload this. This is a short clip from ABC's Mid Term Election Preview special on Sunday November 6th 1966. This clip is about Reagan's quest to become Governor of California. At this point, the pollsters expected Reagan to win by 4 or 5 percent, but on Election Day it was not even close. Reagan won by 15% and won all but three counties.

Notice how unfrivolous the reporting was then.
News magazines were the same way, with almost no photos or celebrities, and in newspapers, the women’s stuff had its own section called the “women’s section” so that we did;t have to read the latest health tips, etc.
I remember that year fondly. GF and I went to a Reagan campaign speech at the Oroville airport with a large, enthusiastic crowd. Graduated HS that June, too.

In the 1984 Reagan Landslide reelection, 66% of Hispanics and 91% of Blacks voted against Reagan.
In 2020, 66% of Asians voted against Trump.
In 2020, 97% of dead people and made up people voted against Trump.
Not enough. Still the minority.
Yes but the state was 80% white back then. Today, it is 30% white.
