I went on a bare bones diving tour off Bimini in the mid 1980’s. Stepping off the boat in the tiny harbor we were met by a man who offered a bag of golden marihuana buds for five bucks. Nobody bit as we were all engineers at Honeywell. The captain gathered us together and warned that this was a local scam. Had someone bought they’d have been arrested and held hostage until the locals had extracted all the money, they thought they could. Typical time would have been four months. (He’d buy us any drugs we wanted.) That night the uniformed and unarmed guards who checked us in stood guard with military grade weapons as cigarette boats loaded up and left about every fifteen minutes. According to the captain they had a radar spotting plane keeping tabs on the Coast Guard. The local marine patrol had no identification and the captain told us during the day they were military but at night they were pirates. He had paid the Dane Geld but he told us to alert him if any unidentified boat got too close and he’d decide whether to engage them, government or not.
It was a fabulous trip. Had I known how corrupt and dangerous it was I’d have skipped it. The Bahamas are far wilder and more dangerous than any “wild” west American frontier town.
A friend who went there and stayed at a main island resort was warned at the front desk to never venture into any of the areas indicated by the desk as dangerous. Basically, everything that wasn’t part of the resort. I’m sure plenty of people have been there and had a wonderful, safe time. But the reason they weren’t molested was they were lucky and not worth bothering with.
Lastly, the body language on the black natives we met was almost uniformly hostile. It’s a third world anus.
Typical liberal agenda... get caught at something like destroying the economy? Just turn around and claim that the economy is strong and all the msm will acknowledge them up and declare how wonderful things are.
