That is so true. I have a VW beetle convertible. 4 speed H pattern. I don’t worry about anyone under 50 trying to steal it. Plus a millennial could never figure out reverse on a bug.

And we could pump Ethyl.

Lead paint too.

As I have explained to my boys, the early 70’s were the 60’s having a last gasp and the late 70’s were a preview of the 80’s.

If you remove the disco, 1978 was a great year for music.

Push down. Then move to the left then toward the rear. On older bugs the gears might grind, so I would pull it to the rear gently until the gears would mesh and then it would go in.

I horrified the LA coworkers by NOT wearing tights generally, but always did with short skirts. Being from the midwest, it was more discreet. Those were the days when my office had a license number. We had to cross the LA drainage canal to get to our containers turned office facilities. I still have a poster from that office.

Great series of pics, AB! Is that really Jean Stapleton (Edith Bunker) with Alice Cooper? Hard to believe she looked like that during the time she was filming All in the Family.

All in the Family ran from 1971 to 1979, at Jean Stapleton's age 48 to 56. Here is a publicity photo of her during that time:

So I guess it's possibly her in that Studio 54 shot. She might have checked it out, since she was born and raised in Manhattan.

On the other hand, according to Wikipedia, her castmates regarded her as a kind and "angelic" Christian Scientist who never said a negative word. So I guess it could also have been someone's idea of a photoshop joke.

I don't know, because I just swiped it from the Internet. But I do know she gave a lot of people a lot of joy, and her reputed kindness was perfect for the part she played in AITF. She died at age 90 in 2013 -- RIP, Jean.
