Yeah, it totally happened. And you know what else? The Atlantisians (or whatever they would be called) hired mercenary Sasquatch’s that rode unicorns into battle!
Thats what I said.
“...or any of the other imaginary places that have now been found to be real.”
Just like Atlantis IS real still, at least its ruins are, somewhere.
Its just a matter of finding it.
That allegory nonsense is was something made up to show how incredibly educated someone was by showing that they knew Egypt was the first advanced civilization and to distance themselves from the likes of Donnelly.
Just as catastrophism was rejected for unscientific reasons until academia was forced to accept it.
We now know that Egypt was not the first and even
Göbekli Tepe which is much older was not the first as the site is obviously a transfer of technology.
Other fields have advanced enough and made enough discoveries that some of the previously supposed rock solid scientific facts that underlie the previous rejection of Atlantis are now questioned.
It is only a matter of time before Atlantis, like other “imaginary” places that have been proven to be true, must be accepted as factual.
Science progresses one funeral at a time
Hmm. They said the same thing about Troy.
bkmk
Except that Atlantis as told to Plato by Solon was said to exist 8,000 years before Plato.
It is also postulated that the refugees from the Minoan conquest migrated to Cyprus and then to what is now Southern Israel and became the Philistines of the Bible era. The residents of Gaza are their descendants..............
Good argument for allegory. With Troy we have historical records, we have archeological data and we have the Iliad which has historical links. I know of no earlier ruins than that of the Gobekli Tepe and associated sites. Maybe there are earlier ice age sites located on coastal plains that were later flooded when the glaciers mrlted. But i personally do not believe any such place as Atlantis ever existed.
