The federal income tax was unconstitutional for most of our county’s existence.

The founders of this country would have never agreed to it.

We should repeal it.

The PRIME purpose of the IRS is to siphon off our hard-earned sweat equity to pay the Federal Reserve for printing of the fiat debt-based PONZI currency. No IRS 1040 "money" pays for any federal program (see Grace Commission report)

Thomas Massie aligns well with the last few months of US Debt Clock's messages.

ALL taxes are illegal and repugnant to the Constitution.

Tax his land, Tax his bed, Tax the table, At which he’s fed.

Tax his tractor, Tax his mule, Teach him taxes
Are the rule.

Tax his work, Tax his pay, He works for peanuts anyway!

Tax his cow, Tax his goat, Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties, Tax his shirt, Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco, Tax his drink, Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars, Tax his beers, If he cries Tax his tears.

Tax his car, Tax his gas, Find other ways
To tax his ass.

Tax all he has Then let him know
That you won’t be done Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers; Then tax him some more, Tax him till He’s good and sore.

Then tax his coffin, Tax his grave, Tax the sod in Which he’s laid...

Put these words Upon his tomb, Taxes drove me to my doom...’

When he’s gone, Do not relax, Its time to apply The inheritance tax.

I agree. Taxation is theft, make no mistake about it.

It is still unconstitutional, evil, immoral, and a blight on the country.

There was a time when elected officials understood they were servants. Now they believe they are royalty. Once that happened, it was the beginning of the end for We, the People.

Nice preserved Union government and states we’ve got on our hands. 2 or 3 of those items could have triggered the American Revolution or Civil War.

The founders foresaw the threat.

It is why direct taxation was not allowed by the Constitution.

The income tax was pushed by Progressive ideologists, because they believed all government was good, more government was better, and any restriction on government was evil.

Progressive ideology triumphed in the 1930's with the election of Hoover and then Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR). It was cemented into place with the FCC and Roosevelt's stacking of the Supreme Court with Progressives, while WWII censorship and the FDR administration made sure the radio networks were stocked with ideological Progressives. The radio networks became the television networks. Control over the information flow in Progressive hands meant Progressives maintained political control until at least 1994.

Watergate was an interior and media coup against President Richard Nixon.

I’ve been saying the same for years to anyone who would listen. The “per capita” tax (i.e., income tax) prohibited in the Constitution was there to preserve the power of the states. When that abomination was modified and allowed, it allowed the feds to reach into the pockets of the citizens of the states. Then the states had to go begging to big FedGuv to get, say, highway monies back to the states. The states created the federal government, but now FedMonster is in charge. Repeal the federal income tax.

Frédéric Bastiat said it best in his great, classic work “The Law” when he talks about the types of plunder. I highly recommend everyone read it and also get the children’s version to read to the kids and grandkids.

All?

Before the communistic Sixteenth Amendment, the federal government was funded by tariffs. Of course, it mostly stuck to the things delegated to it by the states, particularly national defense . . .

I'd be hardpressed to say the prime purpose isn't to redistribute wealth and take away from the financially successful...

"The federal income tax was unconstitutional for most of our county’s existence. "

So sayeth Wesley Snipes.

Which amendment was it ... exactly ... that transformed it to constitutional?

That’s the point. They never made it constitutional.

In addition to what you guys said, the early congress was not paid a salary. They did have a stipend, but a salary was viewed as something corruptible, since congress could increase their own salaries. With salaries, they make it their careers, as opposed to being equals among the People.
