The Iowa star holds the record in both men's and women's Division I basketball.

University of Iowa basketball star Caitlin Clark has reached another milestone in her college career, breaking the NCAA all-time scoring record, a record untouched for more than 50 years -- until now.

Clark broke the all-time scoring record Sunday against Ohio State, hitting 18 points in the game with a technical free throw at the end of the second quarter.

The 22-year-old now holds 3,668 points and counting, surpassing "Pistol" Pete Maravich, who scored 3,667 points while playing at Louisiana State University in 1970.

Clark broke the NCAA women's record -- which was previously held by former University of Washington star Kelsey Plum, who racked up 3,527 points -- in her game against Michigan on Feb. 15.

University of Iowa's Caitlin Clark breaks NCAA women's basketball scoring record Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James congratulated Clark on Sunday, writing on X, formerly Twitter, "CONGRATS @CaitlinClark22 on becoming the All-Time leading scorer!!" (James on Saturday broke his own record for most career points in NBA history, topping 40,000.)

Before breaking the NCAA all-time women's scoring record, Clark recorded 1,000 career assists in her game against the University of Nebraska–Lincoln on Feb. 11, becoming just the sixth player in NCAA women's basketball history to do so.

After getting cut from high school team, 20-year-old now plays college basketball Clark has so far secured brand endorsement deals -- thanks to NIL, which allows college athletes to be paid for such endorsements -- with Gatorade, Nike, State Farm and Buick, totaling nearly $800,000.

She celebrated her 22nd birthday this year by gifting her teammates new sneakers.

Despite being eligible to play for the Hawkeyes for another season due to the COVID-19 waiver her first year,

Don't forget Josh Gibson from Negro Leagues. He was a tremendous talent. Imagine if he was able to play in MLB.

Josh Gibson, Cool Papa Bell, Buck O'Neal.... there's a long list.

Good grief. Has this place turned into DU? For simply pointing out that comparing Clark to Maravich was stupid, and is an obvious media trick to push the “bestest evaaar, gurrrrl power” agenda, I got barraged with the following nonsense:

”ahhhh is your ego that fragile”

“Misogynist much?!?”

“Do you think you could beat her?”

In no way did I say that Caitlin Clark wasn’t a great player, nor that she doesn’t deserve her accolades (within womens’ basketball), but to compare her achievements against those of someone like Pete Maravich is ridiculous. They played in two entirely different universes, and I would bet every dollar I have that if the absolute best college women’s’ team played against the best college men’s’ team, the women would get annihilated. Just like the women’s Olympic soccer team against a group of retired male players, or against a group of high school boys. That’s just a fact.

The “Caitlin vs. Pete” nonsense is just a typical media fabrication intended to push the feminist narrative. Why a bunch of you threw in with them to defend it is a mystery to me.

Jordan’s best skill was 15 foot jumper shot. He would jump high and shoot at the apogee of his jump. So he was like 8 foot tall player at the instant, was very difficult to defend. yes, I remember Kerr as well, but don’t recall him shooting more than half a dozen 3-pointers during any game.

Iowa player Caitlin Clark took a dozen 3-point shots today and made most of them.

This was a college record. Not sure LeBron would do well in college curriculum.

That sounds like comparing a heavy weight boxer with a featherweight class boxer. Apples and Oranges.

“Well, Bonds was using designer PEDs, “

Yes I know but there was always something about Bonds batting with all the plastic armor and hitting it out of the park

Back then a half dozen 3-pointers in one game was considered a lot.

Now the 15-ft jumper is practically extinct. It’s a shame.

“Pistol Pete took 35 shots a game. Clark shot 20 a game.
But, Pete had no 3 point line either.”

And Clark averaged 28.3 points a game while Pete averaged 44.2.

Apples and oranges.

I am guessing Caitlin Clark shot 75-80% during dozen attempts. It was amazing to watch.

That is it, Loyola Marymount, they were fun to watch. Didn’t their coach go on to run the Lakers, or was it former Laker Coach went to College. Those were good memories.

KC went 6-17 in 3-pointers vs Ohio State. That’s about her average. OSU is a great team. They beat Iowa earlier and are the #1 Seed in the Big 10 tournament.

I was impressed with OSU’s ball handling and passing. During the game with Iowa they just had no answer for barrage of 3 pointers from Iowa’s 2 top scorers.

If the players get paid, they should not be able to take up room in classes.
Hired help don’t need to be educated, they “need to get paid!”

It is not “fair” to pay athletes to play and educate them, as well.

Do you want this situation to continue to mess up the, Pro vs Amateur status, in sports?

The NCAA has screwed the pooch, in this matter.
I hope to live to see them rectify the wrong path they are taking.

The matter is already decided in NCAA v. Alston. I agree with the ruling. There are some intended consequences. But as long as the schools are making money, athletes must be compensated, end of discussion.
