Absolutely.

Don’t even give it a second thought.

Grieve however works for you.

Yes it is normal. You will remove it IF and WHEN you think about remarrying. Plus, your kids are happy that you haven’t forgotten their mother.

Yes.

I’ve seen this always with my older male friends whose wives have passed away.

Absolutely normal.

My wife died April 2020. I planned originally to wear my wedding ring for a year, until what observant Jews call the “Yahrzeit.” But even by that date, I could not. But I did take it off in Nov 2021, on my saint’s day.

Bottom line: from talking with family and friends, I was assured that there is no fixed rule or custom. I know widows/ widowers who wear the wedding ring for the rest of life.

You have my condolences, and understanding.

It’s entirely up to you, and I consider it quite normal. My wife of 42 years passed away in 2019 and I’m still wearing my ring.

I have been married almost 53 years to my wife. I can’t imagine life without this woman I love so dearly.

You do not need approval from the rest of us but I will say this:

MANY married people have no idea what it is like to have the abiding love you carry for your dear wife. Wear your ring proudly and be grateful each day you were blessed to have her and let the ring be your declaration to the world of the power of lasting love.

It’s up to you. The reasons people do or don’t are probably extremely varied.

I spent a lot of years at sea where I’ve seen several people get de-gloved by wearing their rings around shipboard, I took my rings off years ago, decades ago and I’ve never put them back on because there are hazards wearing them in industrial areas (ships are industrial, as are semi- trucks, as are cement mixers) and I’m not used to wearing them to... my fingers have grown.

Seeing somebody get seriously De-gloved on a chain fall or some other mechanical device is something you will never forget.

IMHO it's perfectly normal. Especially if you have good relations with her family and the ring is a reminder that you're part of both families.

And there will be nothing wrong if the day comes that you decide to quit wearing it. Especially if you reach the point that the left half of your brain (logic, reason) believes is healthiest to move on, but looking at the ring keeps you from doing so.

This is exactly how I told it to my mother when she asked me the same thing.

My mother passed away on New Year’s Day 2022. Dad still wears his ring in anticipation of being reunited with her someday.

Is anyone telling you that it is not? I will wear mine to my gravesite, and if anyone has a problem with that, go fly a kite an mind your own damn business.

Of course it’s normal. There are no rules that I know of. Only you will know when/if “it’s time”. This is one of those times you listen to your heart.
