The dramatic moment cops raced to save K9 Enzo who was stabbed in the line of duty by a violent murder suspect has been revealed in new bodycam footage.
Three-year-old Belgian Malinois, Enzo, was stabbed multiple times by suspected murderer Thurman Lowe, 64, in downtown Las Vegas on March 29.
The dog's Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department handler can be heard on bodycam reassuring him, 'you did so good, buddy. You're a good boy.'
Enzo was rushed to a vets and then flown by helicopter to another hospital where he could receive more specialist care.
He survived the attack and is now regaining his strength, the force said: 'These dogs are our heroes, putting their lives on the line the same as their human partners.' Police were called to a fire at a downtown address on March 29 and found Lowe inside the apartment trying to take his own life, they said he had self-inflicted wounds and had started the fire himself.
Officers declared a barricade situation after he allegedly refused to cooperate with officers.
Enzo then bit Lowe and he allegedly stabbed him multiple times before officers were able to take him into custody.
Lowe was taken to hospital in a stable condition - he has been charged with arson, assault and attempt to kill a police animal among other charges.
According to St Louis County Police, Lowe is separately accused of murdering Freddie Tribbett, 46, and was on parole following a 30-year sentence for rape, robbery and burglary charges from the 1980s.
Sharing the video of the aftermath of the attack, the force said: 'K9 Enzo did what he was trained to do. Go to the threat and protect our officers. In the process, a violent suspect stabbed Enzo.

As for the perp, yes Boo Boo it's them.
I hope he pulls through and is sent to a happy retirement.
My police force finds homes for retired K-9’s and dogs that fail the training. Not every police force is as humane as that, so I hope his is.
Stabbing a K-9
Story shudda eneed with “the suspect died in a hail of gunfire from the responding officers....”
Ya know - happy ending and all.
These stories rip your heart apart.
Okay, those photos are horrifying! I did not realize he lived. I feel much better. I would think he would be retired. He deserves steak & cuddles for the rest of his life ❤️
I’m against using dogs to subdue violent criminals. Search and find are ok but not violent crimes. If dogs are your best friends why send them to such a dangerous mission ?
I hate to say it, but the dogs are trained to think of it as a game. The hope is that the suspect won’t have time to hurt the dog before the officer gets there.
Prayers up for Enzo to have a happy retirement.
Enzo means Larry in Italian. Glad to hear that he survived.
I hope the puppy is okay.
If you ever work at a veterinarian’s office and an officer comes in to put down his dog it’s heartbreaking.
No clinic employee wants to see this.
The perp should have still been in jail. The justice system sux and has blood upon those hands who release these dangerous scums.
That video is a real tear jerker. Good that the K-9 officer survived, too bad the perp made it.
And here's to a speedy recovery for Enzo, the miracle K9.
Here’s a fairly detailed video put out by the Las Vegas Police Department about the stabbing and the treatment Enzo received, spoiler, Enzo lived and is back on his feet.
Based on the video, he was in really bad shape, but survived after the tremendous treatment he received.

Agreed 100%.
A bullet would have taken care of the barricaded perp. And we would not be wasting thousands on prosecuting the POS.
NO need to make a dog take the hit . Pooch should have been on a long leash with an officer who had his gun drawn.
My worthless 2 cents in hind sight.
Any human being has a right to defend its life, even violent criminals, in fact I expect someone to defend their life, don’t we call that ‘instinct’?
I agree with you. And as another said they should not be used to attack, but for the reason, no one should be attacked by a dog.
I do not want to see any animal of person to get hurt, but all these feels for the poor dog, hang the guy attitude - come on - it is just a dog, get real.
You won’t see the FR cynophobics on this thread.
You are right.
I don’t think anyone would let a dog maul them if they had the means to defend themselves.
Blue line people will disagree.
I am conflicted by this. I am all for using dogs in warfare. They serve an invaluable purpose. They are there to kill and maim, or be killed and maimed, so the rules are relatively clear. When a dog goes willingly into a tunnel to look for the enemy and a human doesn’t have to, I fully support that and hope the best for the dog.
When I see these 6 AM raids on houses by SWAT teams to arrest someone who is a political opponent (as we have seen frequently in the last three years) I am less sanguine about these people using dogs against the citizenry.
But I will say this: I know an animal is an animal and a human is a human, and many say an animal should never take precedence over a human, but I can think of people I have seen in my life on this Earth who, if they were drowning in a river and I had a choice between saving them or saving the animal, I would save the animal hands down.
There are people on this earth who act like animals, and as such, are no better than animals.
