If a cop leaves the dog in a hot car and the dog dies, the officer gets charged with nothing and is told to be more responsible and given another dog.

Any human being has a right to defend its life, even violent criminals, in fact I expect someone to defend their life, don’t we call that ‘instinct’?

He wouldn't have had to "defend his life" by attacking a K-9 police officer if he hadn't been resisting arrest.

After considerable effort and expense, this dog is a highly trained member of a police force, and the perp would not have been bitten if he was not resisting arrest.
