An ITT subsidiary made the employees sign a contract outlining all things we could be fired for. The contract was necessary because several of the things were not legal to fire someone for. One of those things was, “I agree to never, under any circumstances tell a joke.” I asked why and the HR lady answered, wide-eyed, “You have NO IDEA who you might offend.” My thought was I don’t give a s#$% who I offend. But I needed the job. But that’s the new corporate attitude. It was one of the worst places to work I’d ever been. It was the final place but the last two places, you’d see people down the hall and before beginning a conversation they’d both look around to make certain no one could overhear. Very paranoid. All because of ESG/DEI which is just cultural Marxism. A Russian who lived in the Soviet Union said he felt less free in the American workplace than in the Soviet Union. He said, “one wrong word will get you fired.” He was right.
Just a little side note here. Many years back I found a great online article about a math teacher/professor who had his class work on Simpson’s guilt or innocence using mathematics. They weighted pieces of evidence that were not in dispute. For example, the killer walked away from the scene bleeding from the left side of his body. The next day O.J. Simpson had a cut on his the middle finger of his left hand. What are the odds of that happening? They used other pieces of evidence like the killer wearing a size 12 shoe, and that’s what Simpson wore, etc. I think they looked at 8 to 10 pieces of evidence and after working it all out mathematically they put the odds of anyone else other than Simpson being the killer at something like 50 trillion to one.

OJ was guilty, guilty, guilty. No doubt. The trouble began when the police decided to manipulate evidence to ‘ensure’a guilty verdict. They had him, but cheated.
So the real question, at least in my mind was, is it worse to let a murderer free, or give the police a green light to create/manipulate evidence.
