Why can’t Israel borrow for their own defense? Why must our grandchildren borrow and pay for it?
Vanity ^ | 4/21/24 | hardspunned

Israel has a national debt of $310 Billion owed by its 9.6 million citizens. Individually, each Israeli citizen’s share is $32,291. The U.S. has a national debt of $34 Trillion owed by 334 million citizens. Individually, each U.S. citizen’s share is $101,796. All politics aside, why am I, you, each of our children and grandchildren borrowing money to give to Israel when each of us already carries a debt burden three times that of each Israeli citizen?

Are you pretending Israel is paying nothing for its defense?

How do you do the same regarding Ukraine? No need to explain, the brainwashing of the youth is already happening.

Yes, why limit this to Israel and not all foreign aid?

How much do you want to pay for oil? Because oil makes everything go up in price.

Without Israel providing an important balance against the rouge states in the Middle East the Suez Canal would be unsafe and the Persian Gulf would be a mess. That impacts the economies of Europe, the US, Japan, Korea, and China.

What we pay Israel is cheap compared to what instability in the area would cost us otherwise.

The only foreign I would even think about supporting is helping a country out during a natural disaster

I imagine that automatic 3 billion a year courtesy of US taxpayers has helped quite a bit. But Israel also has to jump when we say jump or else they get what they are getting from Joe Biden. Meddling and threats. The bucks must be worth it.

I imagine they can live without our money though. They are successful people.

Solid maybe...

Here is yet another reason I remain skeptical that things are not always as they are portrayed... ..........................snip................................

Netanyahu privately shared in 2019:

“Anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state has to support bolstering Hamas and transferring money to Hamas,” Netanyahu told Likud Party legislators, according to Haaretz, Israel's longest-running newspaper. Doing so would help prevent the West Bank-based Palestinian Authority (PA) from ruling Gaza and giving Palestinians a relatively moderate, unified voice at the negotiating table. “This is part of our strategy -- to isolate the Palestinians in Gaza from the Palestinians in the West Bank.”

Israel’s reckless exploitation of Hamas is as old as the group itself. Indeed, decades before Netanyahu’s closed-door candor, the Israeli government pushed Hamas into its initial prominence, with direct and indirect financial support.

Throughout the 1970s, Israel’s nemesis was the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). In stark contrast to Hamas -- which emerged from the Muslim Brotherhood -- the PLO was a secular, leftist organization, led by Yasser Arafat, who headed the PLO’s Fatah faction.

As a former senior CIA official told UPI’s Richard Sale in 2001, Israel’s initial boosting of Hamas “was a direct attempt to divide and dilute support for a strong, secular PLO by using a competing religious alternative."

.................................................

... sounds so similar to Obama creating Isis with the CIA...

How can Israel borrow from banks that are rooting for, or regulated by politicians who are rooting for, its destruction? Even pro-Israel lenders would want to be repaid. The Ukraine can finance a war with borrowed money that does not have to be repaid, thanks to Biden. No such luck for Israel.

i love the “why do we give to Israel” crowd, that somehow chooses Israel to complain about spending......
At least Israel provides some live-testing results of US weaponry to give back to the USA

how much did the Mueller investigation cost you?
whats the budget for the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition and the countless other USELESS organizations?
How much do we spend on the UN?
Whats the budget for the Dept of Education? or HUD?

BILLIONS of dollars wasted on nothing.

just curious, why you question the spending on Israel?

For some reason you never get your panties in a wad about the tens of billions in foreign aid we’ve sent to Egypt and Ethiopia and Afghanistan and slew of other nations. Your focus is solely on Israel. Why is that?

<< “Please, no politics.” >>

Lol, he says on a political forum. Your irrational hatred of Israel has rotted your brain.

It’s pretty clear that the US government has been buying influence over Israel with all those billions. Lacking it, the Israelis would have been unfettered in its defensive wars with its Arab neighbors, and peace would have broken out in the region about a half century ago. Israelis, Arabs and US taxpayers would have all been better off. New Caliphate fantasists and anti-Semites would have been heartbroken.

I think you might be missing the context. Hamas was supported because they were the “official” government of Gaza; they tossed out Fatah. At the time Israel thought Hamas might be a better political player than Arafat and his ilk. The money paid to them was for the standard things in that area: Humanitarian aid, food, medical stuff, and the like. Israel really had no choice but to deal with them.

Hamas has a political side and a terrorist side. At the start, they allowed more aid through to the people. The people supported them. Of course, they were a rotten core with a nice tasty outer shell.

Of course Israel knew this, but the world would not listen to them.

The history of Hamas goes back decades. The liberals in DC are like goldfish, they have memories that only go back minutes.

The government of this country cares nothing for the bulk of the people within its borders. Only very specific and small groups within and without.

Transgenders appear to be one such example of the few people they actually care about.

The best way to understand our government, is to know that powerful entities may receive a very large benefit, in exchange for a relatively small amount spent on manipulating people, elections, politicians.
Blackmail, bribes, and Zuckerberg style election manipulation.

Now we have huge immigration to throw those once close elections forever it seems.

I wonder what are the next 10 things they already have secretly planned to spend 50 billion each on.

First thing you need to understand is how Foreign Aid works. Once you grasp the concept of how the money flows out and back into the coffers of politicians you now have a complete understanding why someone wants to spend millions of begged money to get a position that pays $176,000 a year and they become multimillionaires in a matter of a couple of terms. Now to understand that concept you need to understand how shell companies work to shield this influx of cash where it does not reflect on the politician. Now you have the full circle.
