Hobbs vetoes bills on school showers, residency for voting, squatters, more

PHOENIX — Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs quashed another 10 measures Tuesday sent to her by the Republican-controlled Legislature, including:

— Legislation that could have barred students from other states, attending college in Arizona, from voting in elections here;

— Defining who can shower with whom in public schools;

— Setting up new procedures to deal with squatters invading homes;

— Requiring enhanced sentences for those convicted of multiple incidents of “organized retail theft.’’

But Hobbs found more areas of agreement with GOP lawmakers than disagreements on Tuesday, signing 12 measures. Still, the day’s vetoes brought the number of bills she has rejected this legislative session to 52.

House Bill 2581, the measure that could have affected college students’ voting, was being pushed by Rep. John Gillette.

The Kingman Republican said there is no clear standard in state law when someone becomes a “resident.’’ That can create problems when determining the rights and responsibilities of an individual, he said.

He cited an email he got from a “snowbird’’ who normally lives in Pennsylvania. Gillette said she got into an accident and was questioned about why she didn’t have an Arizona driver’s license.

The problem, he said, is laws on who is a “resident’’ conflict.

“Defining who can shower with whom in public schools”

Does this veto have an exemption for a guy named Coach Sandusky?

ESPECIALLY STOLEN ELECTIONS!

Legislation that could have barred students from other states, attending college in Arizona, from voting in elections here. I don't know if this would pass muster. If the student is a resident for a particular period of time, I think the student is permitted to vote in that state.

Unless and until the student will be caught if they vote absentee in their home state, I think the idea is fine. If the student meets the lagl definition of residency, then registering to vote should automaticaly cancel their home state registration.

--Legislation that could have barred students from other states, attending college in Arizona, from voting in elections here--

Out of State college students have been generally given a free ride re signing up and voting out of State. They essentially get two bites at the apple--a vote in their home state and a 2nd vote in their college state.

No one seems to care about the illegality of the procedure. Due to the power of these numbers to possibly swing elections, double-voting is accepted without question.

For years, college students have been swarming into the New Hampshire voting booths by the busload from Massachusetts.

I used to think as soon as the rats are faced with the prospect of their 14 year daughters having to shower with creeps pretending to be girls this BS would end. I was wrong

The list looks like checkboxes for someone applying for the position of "Usurper Governor/Enemy Domestic".

This one stood out:
"— SB 1060 which would have given candidates for federal office the ability to send an observer to watch the ballot-counting process. That is now limited to those designated by political parties."

Which tells me the fix was definitely in to insure Hobbes beat Lake and they want to keep it that way.

Hobbs, the utterly fake governor, courtesy of a stolen election. What on earth is wrong with Arizonans these days?

Funny story about that: George Steinbrenner got busted doing that.

He mentioned one time that he voted for Reagan twice. “What, like in 1980 and 1984?” “Make that four times!”

Lol. You’re right though. That needs to be posted all over the campuses throughout the country: “If you vote there, you can’t vote here or you WILL be prosecuted!”
