A gunman has been arrested after pulling a firearm on a Pennsylvania pastor over the weekend in the middle of a sermon in a terrifying caught-on-camera ordeal.
Bernard Polite, 26, was nabbed after trying to shoot pastor Glenn Germany at the Jesus’ Dwelling Place Church in North Braddock on Sunday afternoon, cops said.
A terrifying livestream of the ordeal showed the pastor ducking for cover as the perp brandished the weapon.

From the article: Germany, whose 14-year-old daughter was in the church at the time, said the suspect later revealed to him in custody that he’d seen “spirits” in his mind telling him to open fire.
“This guy was just dealing with spirits, he said, and he came in and wanted to shoot somebody,” Germany said. “He said, ‘You ducked a taco today,’ that’s what he told me, and I guess that’s slang for ‘You ducked a bullet.’”

This din-du needs to be very thankful that he’s still breathing God’s good air.
There are many churches these days that brandishing a weapon like that, especially at the Pastor, would result in one immediately getting the “swiss cheese” treatment with no questions asked....BIG TIME.

We figure, at our Church in PA, close to 1/3 of all members carry at any given time. That’s at a minimum....I was also surprised how many women at our Church carry....

Although I certainly can’t blame em for carrying these days, that situation, in and of itself, could potentially create a much bigger issue in a close quarters confine, especially with small churches....everybody would be shooting everybody.
We put in place a more formal security approach. We know that even though every situation/scenario is different, we try to plan and train for the most likely ones.
FWIW, most of our congregation, including those that carry, know to “hit the floor” on the first gunshot because the security team is going to immediately address the threat.
He would have been dropped in the parking lot if he displayed at our church or caught fire from two or three directions inside the church. Pastor is lucky.
Maybe he needed to be shot
Except that the police found a dead body at the perp’s home.
Crazy assisted defense.
The whole thing looks hinky.
Never let a crisis go to waste.
This is why good guys with guns need to be in the hands of good guys in churches and schools.
