Ted Cruz Is Still Best Positioned For The Nomination

I think Ted Cruz had a problematic week, but I do not think it has impacted him negatively with his base. The most interesting observation to be made this coming week and over this past weekend is what Ted Cruz does with and how he treats those who like him, but were willing to also be critical of his performance on television talk shows. If Cruz gets into a bunker mentality where any criticism is an attack and a signal of opposition to him instead of treating it as constructive, he may not last.

As Cruz moves into first place, understanding that not all criticism is opposition and not all kind words are from friends is going to become vital. Some will say kind things about a candidate in order to harm the candidate, see e.g. Putin endorsing Trump, and some people will be critical of candidates they like because they think their candidate needs to do better. A paranoid campaign is going to lash out at all criticism, no matter how well intended the criticism is.

Cruz enters this phase of the campaign because he has the best chance of becoming the nominee at this point. He does so for several reasons....

As Cruz moves into first place, in one state and one poll. That makes him a winner of the presidency? Right.

(Cruz supporter discloser) I agree Ted has done a good job on organization, money, evangelical support. However, Trump is doing a superior job with Media, he is eating them alive...... Ted can win, but has a long way to go.

Instead of just giving your opinion, could you link to some polls that show Trump doing significantly better than Cruz (or for that matter any of the other top republican candidates) against Hillary?

Cruz is doing better against Hillary in the polls than Trump. Cruz can Crush Hillary.

Cruz is doing better against Hillary in the polls than Trump (because the media and the Dems want him to). So Cruz can be Crushed by Hillary. They don’t want to face Trump.

Next to “Trump is greater than George Washington” this may be the most backward thing I’ve read.

Cruz states he will abolish the Dept. of Education, the Commerce Dept, the IRS etc.

Nice dream but that’s not going to happen.

Cruz will be portrayed as an extremist by the vermin in the MSM and by the Dems. The independents will be scared to death.

Which is why, IMO, Trump has the best chance of winning.

That’s what Trump does. He wins.

Absolutely he can, and so can trump.

This is just your opinion. What do you base it on??

Stupid logic.

Cruz’s goals of abolishing the DOE, DOC, and IRS are more realistice than the Trollster (aka Trump) getting Mexico to pay for a wall.

Your obviously a coward when it comes to running a real conservative. One hasn’t been on the top of the ticket since 1984 and won in two landslides. But Cruz is too “extreme”.

Please name the “extreme” positions Cruz has.

As for the indies, you are towing the GOPe lie which is to moderate for the prescious independents. In other words, you recognize Trump will revert to his liberal tendencies and you think that will persuade them to vote for him. How’d that work out for Dole/Romney/McCain?

Cruz can handle the MSM. It looks like you can’t and need the sideshow that’s Trump to make you feel better.

Only poll showing that is FOX poll, Cruz was even with her. The FOX poll is FOX BS. If a person cannot win the nomination in their own party, they will not beat Hillary. FOX shows Rubio beating Hillary. Oh really? He can’t beat Trump or Cruz in his own party.

RCP average of polls show Clinton at +2.5 over Cruz and Clinton over Trump +6.1.

I do not believe that for a minute. All the dems talk about is Trump. That is because they know he will beat them.

++++
No, but it puts him on the right track. Look at the RCP polling average. Trump has pulled way away from the pack. But Cruz is starting to do the same and his closest competitors, Carson and Rubio, are heading in the opposite direction.

Unless something dramatic happens we are in for a Trump vs Cruz vs Clinton election cycle. May the best man win.

I too like Cruz but he won't even be the nominee. If he cracks Trump's lead, he's cleared the way for the establishment to put in whoever, Rubio at the moment. <.p>

Cruz can't hold them off, can't even really hold Rubio off. He's getting his ass kicked every other day and he's in the right. That' what these people do, lie and destroy conservatives. And with the exception of Trump, none have the media access to fight back.

Polls? Seriously? you do realize they are manipulated to help the GOPe's narrative, right?

Seriously? It seems like almost everyone who doesn’t like a poll claims that it’s being manipulated. Are there competitions between the so-called GOPe and the DNC to manipulated individual polls? Is there a bidding auction?
