Jawan Thompson still sounds incredulous at his luck: He has a job, and a good job.
My first time being incarcerated, I was 15 years old, he said. Since then, Ive been incarcerated maybe four or five timesyou know, getting out, being around bad influences and not making positive choices. After he was released from his latest spell inside a few months agohis charges over the years have included armed robbery, burglary, and drug dealinga community corrections officer told him that there was a program that would help him out with a paying gig. I was like, Nah, its too good to be true. Theres not too many places that want to hire people like me, especially not younger people.
In Indianapolis, there was one. RecycleForce takes IT equipment, retail electronics, and medical devices and breaks them down for safe recycling and disposal. The nonprofits workforce is largely made up of individuals who used to be incarcerated, their wages subsidized by the taxpayer. In effect, Uncle Sam got Thompson a $9-an-hour job. And if Democrats on the Hill have their way, Uncle Sam will, in the coming years, get a job for anyone who wants and needs one, anywhere in the country, for any reason....

But as a national policy to provide busy work for anyone, it's a recipe for failure.
And when that fails, they will arm them as a national police force. The Dems will need a national police force to enforce all of the new laws they intend to pass, to fight:
- microagressions
- fat-shaming
- misapplied pronouns
- failure to provide trigger warnings
- gendering children before the age of two
- refusal of adult men to take testosterone blockers
- insufficient celebrations of diversity
- selective dating
- hiring only the compatence-privileged
Oh, I can hear you, “don’t be so paranoid, Oblomov...the Dems are crazy but not that crazy.”
The democrats saw Birth of a nation.
I wouldn’t put it past the dems to pass any one of those items on your list as a law. You don’t sound crazy to me.
All we need to do is to turn welfare into workfare. No benefits without a fair exchange of labor.
If you’re willing to work hard. Haha, the EBT crowd doesn’t know the meaning of work hard. Besides, they get more sitting on their butts than $9/hr.
Loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng article. Eyes glazed over, but not before I realized it’s progressive bent.
This article provides us more insight into the progressive perspective, and the dangers to our culture that perspective demands we acquiesce.
I worked for one of those electronics recycling and resale outfits.
10 bucks an hour and borderline sweatshop but that was the time wun, early on.
I got up to 12 but I quit and came back. Same crooks, same lies about the higher position. I quit a couple of months later.
Senator Atlas Shrugged.
Can the workers be fired for absenteeism?, drug use? goofing off instead of working?
In a Democratic union-controlled scheme? Hahahahaha!
Not all ex-cons want to stay stupid and re-offend, but many have no shot at getting hired and/or keeping a job.
Interesting article on Recycle Force from 2015:

Takeaway: Recycle Force needs funding to survive. It is not a profit making business.
Yeah, it would have to be work that actually needs doing. Separating things for recycling is not bad. Anything to do with managing our garbage, cleaning up our streets, that sort of thing... is not bad.
Democrats think The Wealth of Nations is pure evil.
They have read, and believe in, Das Kapital, unfortunately.
“It is a trillion-dollar logistical puzzle, wrapped in a politically fraught stimulus effort, inside an experimental economic enigma.”
Nonsense! When everyone works for the government, it’s real simple: no none works for private industry and it’s called socialism or communism, and it never has worked. Ever.
“Can the workers be fired for absenteeism?, drug use? goofing off instead of working?”
of course! but then they become unemployed and eligible for, you guessed it, ANOTHER government jobs with bennies and free medical care ...
