The country is closely following the Brett Kavanaugh saga, but will it sway voters in November?
In an era when the everyday deluge of news coming out of Washington can often feel too overwhelming, the Senate hearing last week to examine allegations of sexual assault against President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee seems to have broken through to an unusual degree.
Nielsen, the ratings agency, estimated nearly 20 percent of American households with a TV watched the hearing, while Google data on search trends showed Kavanaugh was a rare political story to eclipse pop culture and other news.
Partisans on both sides say what's happening with Kavanaugh will matter at the ballot box and, with the announcement of the FBI investigation on Friday and a delay in the Senate confirmation vote, it will remain front and center as Election Day approaches.
Independent polls and election handicappers have found recently that Democrats are solidifying their status as favorites to retake the House. The Senate, where several Democratic incumbents face tough races in states Trump won by large margins, looks less likely for the Democrats to capture, but their fortunes have been improving with candidates in Texas and Tennessee mounting unexpectedly strong challenges to GOP incumbents....

Neither.
Expect martial law to effectively pre-empt or nullify elections.
My thoughts about the impact of the hearings on the election...helps the dems on the coasts and that sprinkling of other elitist areas in the heartland. Helps the 'pubs in the heartland. To folks not in the shadow of DC and liberal northeast and west coast liberals, they've gotten scary.
If Kavanaugh gets into SC...Blue Wave.
If Kavanaugh doesn’t...Red Wave.
I think it’s a red wave regardless of if Kavanaugh gets in or not. People have seen what the Democrats will do to destroy their opponents. On my Facebook page, I have seen posts from people who are not usually political and how afraid they are for their boys growing up in a country where you are now guilty until proven innocent.
The Democrats are equating their core feminist base with the majority of American women. American women have fathers, husbands and sons and are not stupid. They are disgusted by this vile Democratic charade that is attempting to destroy the life, career and family of a fine Christian man. The so called blue wave will smash against a righteous backlash. BTW. Anything published or broadcast by NBC has a strong leftist bias and should be regarded very skeptically.
Trump wave, regardless of what happens to Judge Kavanaugh.
Nope.
This has bolstered Rs. Its already starting to creep into even the fake polls.
The democrats have done the political equivalent of walking into a running airplane propeller. They have a dug a hole for themselves and instead of putting down the shovel, they fired the backhoe.
i’m in NY and the day ford testified WABC radio, who carries Rush, Hannity, Mark Simone, but presents their news from a far left point of view, interviewed four people in NYC on what they thought about Ford’s accusations- three of the four said she was an opportunist...
I just dont see these big mouths millennials showing up to vote. Theyd rather riot.
I’m not sure so simple and anyway, I suspect the opposite result. If Democrats defeat Kavanaugh, their supporters will smell blood in the water and chase that success. Republicans are likely to say screw-you to this do-nothing group of Republicans and sit out the vote. They’ve failed over and over in last few years—effectively no wall funding, no immigration reform, no repeal/replace ObamaCare, and so much more. True, Trump is getting some victories around the edges, but these big things are still unsettled, even with Republican majorities. And even with the Nuclear Option they are sitting on Trump’s nominees—165+.
The Democrats showed their true colors with their vicious attack on Judge Kavanaugh. I know its only anecdotal evidence, but Dr. Ford is being taken to task too at places like Yahoo News and on YouTube. Most Americans are at their core honest and fair minded people. There was nothing fair or honest about this Democrat hit job on Brett Kavanaugh. We shall see what happens in November, but I think the Dems are turning off many people with their gutter tactics.
The Dems will be SOOOOOO demoralized once if Kav gets on. Trump has been keeping low with his tweets and Mitch has been very quiet. Theres a lot going on behind the scenes to make this all work. We can only afford one defection as we have Pence to break a tie.
So many of these wimpy dems will be “defeated” and unable to cope etc....and will just lose hope and give up if confirmed.
Off year national elections average around 40% eligible voter turnout. A wave election would be what, 50-60% eligible voter turnout? That’s what we have been getting the last few presidential elections. The people who care about politics and culture usually vastly over estimate the number of people who care like they do, at least enough to deign to vote over it.
Freegards
I cannot fathom anything other than a huge red wave.
It’s strictly about numbers - how many people are more malcontent, rebellious, juvenile, chip-on-the-shoulder angry leftists. Most leftists I know seem to fit somewhere in this description and won’t see the light any time soon. The only dems that may wake up and smell the coffee would be those who still have a lick of sense left.
We are at a Tipping Point.....how this goes depends on the vote.....we will either be a DECENT country or a DISGUSTING PLACE to live!!
Expect martial law to effectively pre-empt or nullify elections.

ROTFLOL!!
We can only afford one defection as we have Pence to break a tie”
The other possibility is the 2 sisters can abstain and Pence could then break the tie.
This is easy. Turnout on both sides will be high. That means blue district/states will be bluer, and red districts/states will be redder.
There are probably more blue votes out there than red votes, but the blue votes are concentrated in California, New York, Massachusetts, etc. (and not even with all districts in these states), while the red votes control about 30+ states, and the great majority of counties.
If that’s correct, it means minor changes in the House (maybe lose a few, maybe gain a few), and a very bad year for the Party of Satan in the Senate (6 - 7, or maybe 10 or more seats becoming Republican). A 61 - 39, or even a 62 - 38 Senate is not out of the question, paired with a 245 - 190 House. More likely 57 - 43 / 230 - 205.
But the election is still 5 weeks off. That’s enough time for the picture to change two or three times more.
