I am retired now but I worked for a multinational technical firm and it was known to not rock the boat with conservative ideas or comments. Best to just keep your views to yourself....sadly.
No. They do not think they are idiots. They think that they have superior intellect and that we are the idiots.
You need to understand your adversary better.
They do understand that their innermost views are unacceptable to most and the resulting actions make them culpable. I hesitate to say "guilty" since that would have to be established in a court of law and they know that in the current political climate that that is not likely to happen.

Facebook? I was also pissing off some of the relatives when I asked “what sort of retards voted for Justin Trudeau”. After that and after my wife saw some of my posts I got the “cancel facebook” ultimatum.

I am now 70 and I wear a Trump 2020 hat that says “Making Liberals Cry Again”. I am fishing for Liberals to laugh at. If they make a comment about the hat I ask if they were born that way or were they dropped as a baby. They hate it when I turn away laughing.
Must be a nice area where you live. In most places you're fishing for an a$$ kicking or worse. Being 70, you should be armed. You age won't let you recover quickly from a beat down.
If the record first-time gun purchases are to be believed, then the balloting for the presidency has already begun. Anybody purchasing a handgun has already pretty much decided that things are out-of-control. And their solution means that they aren’t voting Democrat in the fall.

I don’t use it like kids do. I’m old, I own a flip phone. When I am on my computer, and I’m a little bored, I go there, stir the pot, and move on. And, there are coworkers I keep in touch with there.
But I get why FB shouldn’t be used.
