“In many ways, Oregon is a failed state like Afghanistan or Haiti.”

Portland voted for this.

Start a fire...perfectly fine.
Prevent a fire...arrest.

Your story reminds me of the one where a guy calls up the police, asking them to send out a patrol to investigate people messing about in his barn. The dispatcher told him, "OK, but I can't get anyone out there sooner than 45 minutes from now." "OK" The guy then goes out to the barn, captures the thieves at gun point and ties them up, all within about 3 minutes. So he calls back the dispatcher and says, "Remember me, I called about the guys in my barn?" "Yeah, I told you 45 minutes." "Well, no rush now. I shot them all dead." 4 police cruisers showed up 5 minutes later, and the head guy says, "OK, where are the guys you shot?" "Shot? I didn't shoot anyone. They're tied up in my barn." "You called and said that you shot them - filing a false report is a pretty serious matter." "Your dispatcher said that she couldn't get one of you here sooner than 45 minutes, and here are 8 of you in 5 minutes. How about we have a conversation with the newspapers and TV?" But your story is better, because it is true. I have a feeling that a LOT of people are going to be telling their local police that either they do their job, or "I'll do it for you." Thanks for what you did, btw. Not that you did it for the rest of us, but actions like that pay dividends in unexpected ways, all over the place.

900,000 acres of Oregon are on fire and 500,000 Oregon residents have had to evacuate their homes.

There are many on standby for evacuation.

We have 2 former families/friends on standby and one single son from one of these families now living in Oregone or Washington.

Another church friend has a sister, who owns 9 cats, also on stand by and with a sick husband. Our friend told her sister to bring the cats in her convertible with the top down and in their travel cages to air out. The fresh/smokey air would be good for the husband.

Really sorry to hear that, GD. It’s a horrible situation to even contemplate. I live in the mountains of CO so I know it could happen at anytime here too.

I had better up my game on planning for such an eventuality. Especially with jackwagons out there setting fires aimed at destroying communities.

Those numbers in OR are incredible. Hard to imagine that many people displaced in one state.

We have lived here for 40+ years, and having go bags with extra clothes, necessities like rxes and key papers.

We keep them on the floor of the passageway from our rear entry our master bedroom to our carport.

They have been in the trunk of my Ridgeline parked in our driveway for 4+ weeks. We start it once a week and drive it to keep the battery charged.

3 years ago, we had to evacuate at 3am in the morning.

We couldn’t return for 3+days.

Pretty sure more than a few old timers remember how to build a good emplacement that you cannot pick out past 300yds even with good optics.

You’re smart. I’ve been here for nearly 40 years. Things got a bit dicey with wildfires nearby in 2012 but I didn’t take the hint. Then a thousand year flood in 2013.

Almost had to leave after the flood because it took out the sewer lines from our neighborhood. Didn’t want to because my mother was well along then with Alzheimer’s so we used a camping type PortaPotti and got by.

She’s gone now so I guess I had better wake up and get prepared to take care of myself in case the worst happens.

We used to have floods. We are on a hill and didn’t get flooded. However, we could not get off our hill for several days.

So the challenge, there was enough food, water and perishables for a week.

We told people engaging in this behavior (ed. blocking roads) that roadways are open to all users, and their actions are illegal and they could be subject to citation or arrest.

That's the funniest thing I've read all day.

The fun part about that is that the police are not legally obligated to do anything except take reports of crime and attempt to apprehend criminals afterwards.

And haven’t been since at least the 70s.

Sitting in the station doing nothing but taking reports *is* their job.

It’s already too late in that respect. If you identifiably assert yourself anywhere but at the ballot box, the following will happen (in leftist areas):

1. You will be doxxed.
2. Your family will be doxxed.
3. Your friends will be doxxed.
4. Forces will be brought to bear to get all of the above dismissed from any employment they may hold.
5. Forces will go to the homes of the above to harass and attack them.
6. Attempting to defend yourself from the last and you will be arrested and imprisoned while your family and friends continue to be attacked.
