Republican Ernie Fletcher has vaulted into a clear lead over Democrat Ben Chandler in the race for Kentucky governor, according to The Courier-Journal's latest Bluegrass Poll.

Fletcher led 48 percent to 39 percent, with 13 percent undecided in the poll conducted Tuesday through Thursday. The poll surveyed 712 self-defined likely voters by telephone, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.

Chandler campaign manager Mark Nickolas said the campaign's polls show a much closer race.

The only one that does, apparently. The Lexington Herald-Leader recently released a separate poll which also shows Fletcher's lead is 9.

Nickolas is a joke. They started the negative campaigning and now call Fletcher the negative campaigner.

Here's the link to the story about the Herald-Leader Poll.

Poll: Fletcher Leads Chandler by Nine

It is way too soon to celebrate, and we must work as though the poll is flipped. The Democrats would almost kill to keep this change from happening.

Good news in Kentucky, but too soon to celebrate. The Unions and the Democrats will surely try their old dirty tricks like they did in 1995.

We'll have to work hard to get the GOP turnout high to counter the fraud, and carry in the other candidates on Fletcher's coattails. Trey Grayson and Linda Greenwell would benefit greatly from a big Fletcher win as their races are close in the polls.

I'm worthy of a Kentucky ping! WOW. Thanks Meek, you sweetie, you.

What if the downright adorable Haley wins in MS and Fletcher wins Kentucky... just how will the democrats splain GOP victories and democrat losses of two southern governorships? (she asks in contrived innocence....) LOL!

Can hardly wait for November 4th's election results.

"Chandler held his own in Jefferson County, in both voter support and favorability, but his edge over Fletcher there is still unclear. The county split 47 percent for Chandler and 42 percent for Fletcher, but the margin of error for the one-county sample is plus or minus 8.5 percentage points."

I'll bet this is all attributable to the Louisville Communist Urinal. Every single day for the past week it has been full of nothing but hit pieces on Republicans, and who can forget the stirring editorial complaining that Chandler doesn't have as much money as Fletcher. I finally got so fed up that I told them to stop delivering.

That's an easy one -- they will say that the Democrat takeover of LA on Nov. 15 is the last of the three gubernatorial elections and that Kathleen Blanco's likely victory is the "last word" and trumps the MS and KY contests!!!

In 1995, the GOP took MS and LA gubernatorial victories, but the Democrats used their narrow win in KY as proof that Bill Clinton had rebounded! And their claim worked! Clinton even won KY a second time in 1996.

Yeah, that killed me. Closest gubernatorial race in KY in 25 years, and they hailed it as a victory. It will be pretty hard to spin a win, however, as the Rats have had the Governorship since about 1970. They lost the state Senate 4 years ago for the first time, IIRC, EVER. The tide has turned in Kentucky.
