Bloom County had a comic strip about ordering a Whopper without a bun years ago. Guess humor has become reality yet again.

Dieters also will be able to order Whopper meals that substitute salads for French friesBK used to have the best fries and then they changed to the crap they now serve, so a salad is an improvement.
As for me, I just bring a bag of potato chips in with me now.

Atkins a fad? Maybe so.. but maybe its just popular because it works. I am living proof having lost 40 lbs since Nov. 8, 2003.

And the Atkins fad roars on. Be interesting to see how many products stick around. I cut back on my carb intake a lot. Most of my carbs come from nuts or veggies. I pretty much avoid bread, crackers, sugar. I eat lots of fish and chicken, some beef. I think this bunless whopper thing is a bad marketing idea, though. It will expose what a skanky, moist, processed, steamed, crap tasting slab of junk a whopper patty really is.

The healthfulness of Whoppers aside, would I be alone if I said the whole Atkins craze was a crock?
To: GeneD
They've been serving meatless ones for years.

Atkins a fad? Maybe so.. but maybe its just popular because it works. I am living proof having lost 40 lbs since Nov. 8, 2003.That's great!, but I didn't say that it didn't work. However, any similar massive alteration in eating habits will do the same. I lost 50lbs by resticting my own diet to 20 grams of fat per day. And I didn't spend a penny on anyone's "plan".

I think they all got the idea (Carl's Junior is doing this now too) from In-N-Out Burger - they've had them for over a year...called "The Atkins Burger".

Exactly -- if they are going to succeed in this they'll have to have VERY tasty burgers. I like the salad for french fries though. I tried Atkins last year around this time and it didn't work because my wife wouldn't do it (pregnant) and she was the cook. In the short time I did it though I gave up on a lot of food that I was addicted to. I very rarely eat snacks anymore and drink a lot more water than I ever did. I'm still addicted to potatoe products so any move by fast food to provide an alternative would be nice.
