Good on him. But at some point he needs to quit hedgin', like he did in this speech.

A much better way to put it is this:

"I am firmly committed to the end of the income tax, and in favor of a national RETAIL sales tax to replace it. I will work to educate the people of this country for as long as it takes to form a national consensus on this great plan...and for us to then pass it through Congress.

In the meantime, I will fight for reform within the current crazy system we have. The death tax needs to go. No taxation without respiration.

And President Bush's tax cuts need to be made permanent."
