"If you can make chocolate chip cookies, you can make meth," Schulz said.Actually: If you can make a burrito or salsa you can make meth.

I wouldn't object. Personally, I think there aren't enough ways left for stupid people to kill themselves off. That's mostly the Democrats' fault BTW..

A person has to be a special kind of stupid to do speed of any kind. All a semi-rational person has to do is look at the pictures Martin posted, or read what the s*** is made of to know this is poison-just another way to commit suicide.

People have a right to own poison, if they misuse it, it is their choice. Bug spray is poison, should it also be illegal?
People who want a government to tell them what they can and can not own are the scary ones to me.
This whole "Meth" problem is just the result of the government employment program aka the War on Drugs.

I'm a middle of the right side of the road libertarian by nature, and I tend to agree that the WOD is a misuse of time and money- except when it comes to meth and crack.
Meth (for white folks) and Crack (for the brothers) aren't like weed, or even smack. Weed makes people stupid, but other than a loss of brain cells (most burners I have known were Democrats), Dopers are largely harmless. Tweakers, conversely, are a real danger to others in society.

You are correct:
It's the addict, not the drug.
Let's say that the meth problem could be "solved" by installing a "smoke detector" like device in every home that would detect meth. Would you be in favor of that kind of solution, or not?

OK, let's say speeders and crackheads are a lot more dangerous than pot smokers: What do you do about it? Continue the Drug War against a target that is even more elusive than drugs that must be smuggled in? Or try something else?

I'll never understand how this stuff gets so popular. I live in what was once known as the meth capitol of the world and you can see its effects everywhere.. This stuff has to be the nastiest crap out there.
MMMmm, a drug that won't let you sleep, causes your manhood to shrivel up like a dried mushroom and makes your teeth fall out. I gotta get me some of that!

"In Alexandria, Lt. Bill McKay, assistant jail administrator, often has to separate meth users from other inmates because of their hallucinations. "One of them was seeing Janet Reno all the time," McKay said."
YIKES! No expense should be spared to treat this poor person. No one deserves being haunted by Janet.

You'd think from this article that there are no legitimate uses for amphetamines.
To: sarcasm
Looks to me as if this is a crime that's self-punishing.
To: dennisw
Yeah baby!!!! Legalize it!!! Legalize such poison. Actually, until the war on drugs in the early 80's, methamphetamine used to be legal, and available through a doctor. Meth was usually prescribed as a diet pill.
Meth was given to truckdrivers, fighter pilots(still is), and I had a WW2 vet tell me they were given doses of meth before being dropped out of planes onto the French countryside.
Legal Meth is one of the drugs thought to have killed Elvis. It still was a lot less dangerous when made in labs legally than it is now, and there were a lot less addicts.
