Yesterday,I wrote a brief piece suggesting President Bush was going to lose his bid for re-election.
There were at least 100 responses: most of which were printable-although there were spittle marks on the text of a few. There were even a few thoughtful responses.
I don't think it's gotten across: This is going to be one very, very rough election !
I'll give you a "for-instance" : In Ohio-long considered a Republican stronghold-the polls are running just about 50-50 between President Bush and Cash-In Kerry !
Offhand, I'd say it's about time to set aside such diversions as Janet's Jugs,Kerry's Interns (a topic that will only boost the man's popularity,if Clinton's history is any guide),Gay Nuptials (!?),and Hillary's Hips, and get down to business !

You have, of course, completely ignored context. This will be a blowout a la Mondale-Reagan. I'm sure you can find polls from back then showing Mondale ahead for stretches of time.

A. I will NEVER believe the polls again after the election of 2000 which up until the last few days prior to the election showed Bush ahead in a romp.
B. Even If I did have any credence in the polls, the ones now are worthless regarding an election still 8 months in the future. Based on similar polls President Mondale, and President Dukakis won in landslides.

Didn't see your thread yesterday, but Bush hasn't even begun to campaign, when on the other hand Kerry has been campaigning madly with tons of free media coverage for the past few months.
I'm surprised the President's been able to maintain the numbers he has with all the negative media coverage.
Once the campaigning starts, then you can start to make judgements, until then there's nothing of substance to really consider.

What? Another vanity post, when you could have continued this discussion on yesterday's thread? Why?

ive heard comments from those that voted for bush but wont again ...here is my take on it...i beleive the alternative to bush will bring in the votes..this is not to say that a good number of conservatives are outraged at some of the domestic policies...staying home is not an choice we have folks...i call my senator and congressman regularly to let them know a lot of us aint happy !

Where have you been lately?Kerry's record combined with his patrician undertaker personality is enough to sink him and tip the scale.Yes it will be a hard fought election but you are living in Lautenberg,Torricelli country and may be more discouraged.
It won't be easy but good will prevail. The polls are in line or better for our incumbant than usual at this time in the election cycle.(meaning they have no meaning).

Never trust polls. I can't imagine anyone voting for Kerry, but if the election is close and the vote fraud is heavy, your right, Bush may lose given he toss'ed out a certain percentage of his base who will either, stay home, vote against him, or vote a third party.
To: genefromjersey
I don't doubt for a minute that this will get dirty and ugly. Democrats are involved, afterall. However, it's only natural that the president's numbers would fall -- every day the news is filled with quotes from Kerry, Edwards, McAwful, et al bashing him. As Bush starts to hit the campaign trail, that'll change.

I whole heartily agree
things at this point do not look too good. i am also sick of hearing people say Polls mean nothing at this point. The more time goes by the more the polls mean and it is getting dangerously close to game time

Most of these media polls are a joke. The really good pollsters (the accurate ones) are working for the campaigns. And again, Bush has not started to run for re-election. And good things can happen to Bush: Diminishing violence in Iraq perhaps, capturing Bin Laden, Mullah Omar....
Also, even Dems aren't overly thrilled with Ketchup Boy. He's just the latest standard-bearer of the "Hate Bush" crowd.

I disagree, because it has been about the RATS and all the advertising has been antiBush. The PUBBIES have not yet started to do the battle. One does declare a winner in a war until both sides engage.

It would be best that Bush get reelected. He'll appoint better judges than Kerry, and even with his inexplicable Saudi-coddling, his efforts against Muslim terrorism will likely be better, on balance, than those of a President Kerry.
Bush does not, however, even come close to deserving reelection. He is an abject failure at protecting this country's borders, sovereignty, language and culture from hostile invasion. Instead of lifting a finger to curtail the massive transfers, legal and illegal, of third world populations, norms and values to our homeland, he works to accelerate them.
