Did the VLWC try to invalidate my vote? You decide.
I walk in, hand over my ID and two people with separate lists check my name against my address. Then, a third person hands me my ballot. I didn't notice either of the first two tell the third which party I was a member of and, to my own chagrin, I didnt look at the ballot at first. I merely said thank you and headed toward one of the two Republican voting booths. No, no, said the third person, a woman. Go to one of those booths. She was pointing at one of the five Democrat booths. I looked down at my ballot and it was a Democrat one. I walked over and handed it back to her.
Arent you a Democrat? she asked ponderously. No, maam, I said with military precision. Im a Republican.
Suddenly, in a polling place deep in the heart of Maxine Waters congressional district, it got real quiet; not a menacing quietthese were older, presumably church-going folkbut quiet nonetheless. I received the correct ballot, went to the correct booth, did my thing and got out of there, with eyes burning holes in my back.
Guess it goes with the territory; like for being left-handed and bald-headed.

I don't know what Marxine's so upset about regarding Haiti. After the Rodney King riots set her district on fire, she refused to call it a "riot," instead calling it a "rebellion." So why all the whining when an authentic rebellion ousted Aristide? Hmm? HMMMM?

I had to look at her bio to see why she shaves her head. Interesting woman. She seems to know her own mind.

Precisely why my black friends are afraid of putting a BUSH/CHENEY sign in their yards. It's really quite sad when they can't openly support what they believe.

That's a good one! Way to go.
Are the Democrats guilty of stereotyping? Can't be.

Inter-racial stereotyping amongst African-Americans...? Isn't Maxine always railing against racial stereotypes? No hypocrisy here.....

I imagine the experience for the people there was akin to a German in Berlin meeting a Jew on the street shortly after World War II. That particular complex set of emotions is alien to me. Perhaps it would be like meeting Klaatu on the subway.

A klaatu?

I'm sorry, but perhaps you didn't understand: Your skin color requires you to be a Democrat. Perhaps you missed the orientation....[/sarcasm]
