Hey folks, My buddy and I have thought of a great slogan for a political tee shirt one that can be modified election to election and still work well. I need help knowing how to do the following, ( and if you have personal experience to share even better)
What is the easiest way to trade mark an idea or slogan?
Where would I find a company that could screen print and ship orders for shirts.
We think they would make great bumper stickers for the campaign too, what is the best way to sell them. Who makes bumper stickers and how much to produce and sell>?
What is the best way to market it? (getting one of the talk show hosts to mention it or whatever)?
How best to set up a business( we have a corp already)
How much money to get it started ?
ANY other questions or expertise you can offer would be most welcome.

I have a tiny bit of experience that may help. You can get the shirts done pretty cheap; don't worry about high-quality construction, because they won't be worn after November of this year. This also means the slogan can be applied using less expensive, less durable methods. Quantity will impact your cost, of course, but I'd guess you could get them done for $2/per (that's shirt + slogan).
The bumper stickers are a breeze; a simple web search (for your locale) should do. Shouldn't pay more than a few cents for each of those.

Image Pointe Printing, 1224 LaPorte Road, Waterloo, Ia. Their artist, an old friend, will copy your art or work off your art, they'll transfer it to screen on a light machine, then print in up to 8 colors I believe on many textiles, shirts, hats, etc. They also to sewing and embroidery work.

longfellow and NYCop on Free Republic have done "Support the Troops" T-shirts. Maybe they can help you with advice.

Once you have a design, you can apply for a copyright of a unigue design. But it's not easy to copyright something like a simple sentence or sequence of words that anyone could use.
There are lots of T-shirt companies in the yellow pages who will do the whole thing for you.
You could also look under printers (silk screen)to print the design on shirts after you buy the shirts wholesale
THey also do bumper stickers. Some printers specialize in this type of thing.
I'd look into internet marketing by getting in touch with the large emailing groups that send to your target group. For example, place an ad on Townhall or Lucianne or a conservative newsletter.
