[Action!] Congressional Candidates for Terrorism.

[Action!] Congressional Candidates for Terrorism.

Congressional candidates are advertising on a website that has expressed support for the murder of Americans!

Many of you already know that the Daily Kos, a liberal blogger named Markos Zuniga who has around 100,000 daily readers, recently endorsed the murder of American contractors in Iraq. In response to the murder of four Americans and the mutilation of their bodies by terrorists in Fallujah, Iraq, Markos Zuniga refused to condemn the action, then later expressed support for their murders. In case you haven't seen it, here is Markos' original post:

Every death should be on the front page (2.53 / 28)

Let the people see what war is like. This isn't an Xbox game. There are real repercussions to Bush's folly.

That said, I feel nothing over the death of merceneries [i.e., American security guards who were murdered while protecting a food shipment]. They aren't in Iraq because of orders, or because they are there trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit. Screw them.
If you haven't seen it, that's understandable, because Markos quickly deleted it from his website and deleted all mention of it in the Google cache and the Wayback Machine.

This isn't so astounding, given Markos' strident anti-Americanism and extreme leftism. What is surprising is that there are still two congressional candidates advertising for support on Markos Zuniga's website!

That's right, candidates Jane Mitakides and Joe Hoeffel are currently running ads on a website that has expressed support for the murder of Americans. Please let them know how you feel.

1. Jane Mitakides is running in Ohio's 3rd Congressional District. Her campaign website welcomes linkers from the Daily Kos with a quote expressing Markos Zuniga's support for her candidacy. My guess is that Ms. Mitakides' campaign staff would appreciate being copied with Mr. Zuniga's opinions on the murder of Americans (especially considering he has gone to such great lengths to hide those opinions). You can contact her campaign at info@mitakidesforcongress.com, make sure to inform them that the site she has advertised on has expressed support for the murder of American contractors, and copy the post and the archive link above into your e-mail for their edification. To ensure that your e-mail is acted on, make sure you openly "cc" her opponent Michael Turner's Chief of Staff, Stacy Barton, at Stacy.Barton@mail.house.gov. I'm sure Stacy will thank you.

2. Joe Hoeffel currently represents Pennsylvania's 13th Congressional District, and he is running for one of Pennsylvania's U.S. Senate seats. Hoeffel's chief of staff is Josh Shapiro, and you can e-mail him at joshua.shapiro@mail.house.gov. Make sure to inform him that the site his congressman is advertising on has expressed support for the murder of American contractors, and copy the post and the archive link above into your e-mail for his edification. To ensure your e-mail is acted on, make sure you openly "cc" his opponent, Arlen Specter's, Chief of Staff, Carey Lackman, at carey_lackman@specter.senate.gov. I'm sure Carey will thank you. For good measure, you might want to add Specter's Republican primary opponent, Pat Toomey. His chief of staff is Mark Dion, and you can e-mail him at mark.dion@mail.house.gov.

I doubt any of these people would want to be associated with Markos Zuniga's recent statements. Give them the opportunity to decide.

Mercenaries, war, and my childhood
by kos
Fri Apr 2nd, 2004 at 17:57:39 GMT

There's been much ado about my indifference to the Mercenary deaths in Falluja a couple days ago. I wrote in some diary comments somewhere that "I felt nothing" and "screw them".
My language was harsh, and, in reality, not true. Fact is, I did feel something. That's why I was so angry.

I was angry that five soldiers -- the real heroes in my mind -- were killed the same day and got far lower billing in the newscasts. I was angry that 51 American soldiers paid the ultimate price for Bush's folly in Iraq in March alone. I was angry that these mercenaries make more in a day than our brave men and women in uniform make in an entire month. I was angry that the US is funding private armies, paying them $30,000 per soldier, per month, while the Bush administration tries to cut our soldiers' hazard pay. I was angry that these mercenaries would leave their wives and children behind to enter a war zone on their own violition.

Yes. Once he lost two Dem advertisers, he pulled the original post from his webpage and from Google/Wayback. Let the other two advertisers know what he's been up to. Use the archived page from the link provided.

He's still a jack@ss.

"I was angry that these mercenaries would leave their wives and children behind to enter a war zone on their own violition"

He has no clue what makes Americans great. Its people like those leave their families to fight for a case they believe in, to make others free.

Ms. Mitakides:

I see from his website that you appear to be a friend of Markos Zuniga.
Or, if not a friend, at least you think it appropriate to advertise on a
site that condones the murder of American Citizens. Are you the "Terror
Candidate" for congress this year?

Your support of such a man is inexcusable.

Signed,
My Name

I'm moving the 3rd District end of April. Turner better be all over this. I've sent correspondence to both he and Mitikides. She is toast in that District.

As for this Zuniga, I wonder who's got his back. The men who died have friends, and they're not your ordinary kinda friends. They'll find this MF and make him mess his britches.

I was angry at...

No where does Mr. Zuniga (kos) show anger at the murderers. Nor advocate justice for these animals in Fallujah.

Imo, Zuniga's brief statement demonstrates a shallow personality, and lack of intellect.

Joe has apparently pulled his ad.

I just got this email reply...

Thank you to all who have contacted us to alert us to the unfortunate
statements made on The Daily Kos regarding the deaths of the American
contractors in Iraq.

Many of you know that I come from a family with deep military roots,
and
I have been dedicated to supporting our troops and our veterans my
entire life. I also believe that whenever a life is lost to violence.
American or Bosnian, Somalian or Hutu, Palestinian, Israeli or Iraqi.
mankind is diminished.

We have made the decision to remove our advertising from that website,
to assure that there is no confusion about my position on this matter.
But I want to be clear on one point: this decision is not because of
any
"pressure" I have received. It is a personal decision, and one I have
not made lightly.

In the past, Kos has provided a valuable forum for Democrats, for the
sharing of issues and information, and I believe "blogs" such as these
will continue become a real force in political communications.

Again, thank you for your e-mail, and for your interest in this very
important race.

Sincerely,
Jane Mitakides

Well, they got rid of those particular sponsers,
but they managed to pick up a new one:
Jeff Seemann For Ohio Congress

and this text has been added to the site:

Another response to Freeper intimidation
by kos
Mon Apr 5th, 2004 at 18:17:23 EDT

From the Minnesota House Democratic Caucus:
Minnesota's House Democrats are fighting George W. Bush, stopping the Bush/Rove plan to capture Minnesota's 10 electoral votes. Now, apparently, we're fighting Bush in cyberspace.
Over the past several days, we've been contacted by a handful of presumed Daily Kos readers, expressing outrage with Friday's posting. They're demanding that we immediately stop advertising on this site. Michael Friedman of the FriedMan blog, is aggressively targeting all Daily Kos advertisers, including us, stating that "this post isn't about scum like "Daily Kos". It's about those who keep company with him."

This intimidation isn't going to work. And, yes, that's exactly what it is: intimidation, standard-issue Republican fare. In his blog, Mr. Friedman identifies himself as a Republican pursuing a pointedly anti-Kos agenda.

Someone sent this message to Jeff Seeman, along with
notification to Drudge, Boortz, Hannity, and Limbaugh...

Jeff, say it ain't so.
Are you sure you want to be associated with this?

Jeff Seemann - Democratic Candidate
for 16th District of Ohio, US House Of Representatives
has taken to advertising on a website (blog) known as
The Dailey Kos (http://www.dailykos.com/).
-
The author of the website, Mr. Markos Moulitsas Zúniga
recently endorsed the murder of American contractors in Iraq.
In response to the murder of four Americans and the mutilation
of their bodies by terrorists in Fallujah, Iraq, Markos Zuniga
refused to condemn the action, then later expressed support for
their murders.
The original text has been removed, but is preserved here:

One interesting thing is that Mr. Seeman is fully aware of
the controversy and in fact has chosen to advertise there
specifically because of the controversy.
-
Proof of this is found here:
http://www.jeffseemannforcongress.com/index.html
"...The Jeff Seemann for Congress campaign recently learned of the
controversy brewing regarding www.dailykos.com...
...We were saddened to hear that three advertisers pulled their ads on
the site because of the remarks posted on the blog...
...Our campaign has decided that because of the recent events we will
step in and advertise on www.dailykos.com..."
