The 9-11 Yentas
self | 4/14/2004 | Huck

Posted on 04/14/2004 6:30:10 PM PDT by Huck

The plain truth of it is that the Family Steering Committee, what I call the 9-11 yentas, and what the left leaning media outlets call "the families of the victims"(as if this committee represents them en toto), are a partisan group of Democrat political activists. They are organized and aligned against the Bush Administration. And events of the last couple of days have provided a clear demonstration of that sad and tawdry fact.

The other day I was ranting to some friends about Jamie Gorelick, the bitchy Democrat commissioner who, upon completing her long winded partisan attack, badgered Rice between loaded questions to please speed up her answers and not use up Ms. Gorelick's precious time. Weeeeeell, it turns out, our friend Jamie the Harvard lawyer has an apparent conflict of interest! She was Deputy Attorney General under Clinton and worked for Janet Reno, both of whom had to testify before the commission just this week!

Here's a link to the conflict of interest story, via US Newswire: click here

What does that mean? It means that somehow Gorelick became a member of the commission when in fact she should be testifying in front of it. She was second in command in the Clinton Justice Department. Imagine the hissy fit the 9-11 yentas and the whole loony left would be pitching if John Ashcroft's deputy were a commissioner! They'd be going completely insane! But if you haven't been closely following this, how would you know? Don't expect Petah Jennings to tell you about it. Or CNN. Or the NY Times. Or CBS. Well then, allow me to hip you to it:

You may have heard of Phillip Zelikow. He's the executive director of the 9-11 commission. Well, he wrote a book about Germany with Condi Rice, served under Bush One, and also participated in the transition from Clinton to Bush.

Here's some bio info on him:click here

The partisan democrat Family Steering Committee-- a few yentas from New Jersey actually, PITCHED A FIT about this Zelikow guy. They said it was a conflict of interest! They wanted him gone because he is an associate of Condi, who they were out to get!

Here's a background story on Zelikow:click here

The yentas, outraged over Zelikow, are silent on Gorelick. Can you imagine that? Even if you want to say that Zelikow really does have a conflict, you can't then ignore Gorelick's, which at face value appears worse, and maintain your credibility as an organization, can you? Shall we hold our breath and wait for the Family Steering Committee to show equivalent outrage about Jamie Gorelick's apparant conflict of interest? Should we expect to see a letter posted on their website like this one? click here

I don't know about you, but I am not holding my breath. It just goes to show that the Family Steering Committee are Democrat partisan activists. What's really incredible is that Gorelick was allowed on the commission at all. I am sorry to go on so long, but one more important point.Tom Kean, the so-called Republican heading this committee, when confronted with the Gorelick conflict, said we should all "mind our own business."

Well excuse me! Isn't it ironic that the commission on 9-11 accountability doesn't want to be held accountable itself? Stunningly arrogant. But what do you expect? The whole thing has been mostly revolting. Richard Clarke was selling a book, for crying out loud! CBS had him on 60 Minutes and forgot to mention that they also are the publisher of Clarke's book! Sickening. But because Clarke fit into their agenda, most of the media outlets gave him a pass. Don't hold your breath waiting for Katie Couric to get tough with a Democrat. It never happens. Ever.

So don't believe the hype; there is a lot of it going around. In the immortal words of Bob Dylan:

"Keep a clean nose, watch the plain clothes, you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows."

And this being just a primer doesn't even go into the substance of the Gorelick memo. This piece focuses on the yentas.

I think I know what a 'yenta' is since I've listened to Stern
for years, but is a yenta what it's portrayed to be on Howards show?

Good post.

Reminds me of Mark Levin's radio show on the Monday before Election Day in 2002, in which he begged all "soccer yentas" in his audience to get their nails done instead of voting for a Democratic candidate.

Yes, you see in the Liberal mind when you suffer some grave tragedy you become an expert. It's how we deal with our grief on planet left wing. "We just want to save other people from our fate," so tha mantra goes.

So, these women who lost loved ones suddenly become experts in the prevention of terrorism. It's much the same way hollywood airheads become experts in something because they are in a movie about it.

I absolutely guarantee, I stake my life on it, I would bet my childrens life on it (ok, they're 16 and 18 and at times deserve death) that if these women were pro Bush you would never see or hear one word about them in the media.

I'd say it was pretty good stuff for the intended audience, Huck.

You might want to stick a little bit on the other 9/11 families in there somewhere.

I was thinking the same. Like, right after this line: "when confronted with the Gorelick conflict, said we should all "mind our own business", maybe something like: Perhaps the 40 families who lost loved ones on 9/11 (with a link to the story about them sending GWB their letter of support) should talk to Kean about Gorelick. Let him tell them to mind their own business.

Good job on the essay!

Excellent essay!

Of course the dems are all about power not principles.

They will forever take the low road when it comes to acquiring it.
