What some of us view as the moral descent of a great and Godly republic into imperial decadence, neocons see as their big chance to rule the world.

What an utterly stupid statement.

"Neocons see their big chance to rule the world"...despicable and shameless statement....There is no fence high enough, Pat. Sticking our head in the sand won't work.

We are not trying to rule the world...just get at bad guys that wish us dead. The road is long and treacherous.

WE WILL NOT TIRE...WE WILL NOT FALTER...WE WILL NOT FAIL

I agree with most of what he says

He is sounding an alarm and you must look at what he is saying in the larger context. We are embroiled in a cultural war here at home and our culture is rapidly becoming more dominated by the values of the entertainment/porn industry and by the gay-lesbian movement than by Conservative Judeo-Christian values. So the question becomes "which culture are we exporting and is it worth exporting?". Freedom, yes, that's a God given right but in the process are we polluting other cultures with our own decadent one?

His message is also a "call to arms". We need to fight the battle for our culture here at home with as much intensity as we have the global war on terror. The sins of Abu Grahib are only a symptom of the sickness that is pervading our own culture. We have lost the moral high ground abroad because we failed to keep it here in America. Until we regain it, the goodness that the world once saw in America will be only a memory. Again, freedom yes, but why would any country want the kind of sick culuture that we are evolving into?

I gave up on Buchanan since he became the GOP "hitman" who helped to "whack" the Reform Party....

If the Jihadists are upset at our decadent culture then they should focus their attacks on Hollywood and Massachusetts.

I, for one, would not lift a finger to stop them.

" This may be the neocons' war. It is not our war."

I guess it was only "neocons" who died on Black Tuesday.

How any American can continue to support Patsy after reading statements like these is beyond me.

He fell out of the tower.

"Why not stand beside Islam...why are they wrong?"

I cannot believe this. He is openly supporting the enemies of America because he doesn't like risque' entertainment? I'm no fan of Britney Spears, but she, and all of us, do not deserve murder for it, or any of the things Patsy now supports.

I guess now he'll go over to Iraq or Afghanistan and join the Terrs. His thinking will earn him a place in their hearts.

"This war ... is about – deeply about – sex," declaims neocon Charles Krauthammer. Militant Islam is "threatened by the West because of our twin doctrines of equality and sexual liberation."

Neocon/neosex bump.

What does Krauthammer mean by sexual liberation? The right of "tweeners" and teenage girls to dress and behave like Britney Spears? Their right to condoms in junior high? Their right to abortion without parental consent?

No Pat,

He means that girls should be allowed to learn to read and attend school. He means the right of a woman not to be beaten if she goes out unveiled. He means women having the same legal rights in the courts as the men do.

Pat's statement would not be so upsetting but I just read an article how in muslim society if a young woman is raped. The men of her family will kill her to protect their "honor". (The article told how in Turkey, a court just sentenced all the men in a family council to long prison terms for such an act. - Hopefully a sign of change.)

The claim by "cultural conservatives" that morals are somehow universal is, beyond being just plain wrong, an example of how they are actually cultural collectivists

Take for example, President Bush. He barbecues and eats pork on his ranch, an action seen as immoral by Jews and Muslims. His daughters drink alcohol with his apparent consent, an action seen as immoral by Baptists and Muslims. Also, when Jenna and Barbara visited wounded troops recently, they wore dresses that Muslims, Orthodox Jews, and even some Christians would find "immoral". Hell, even some of our more bluenosed freepers complained. I doubt any of the troops did, though.

Some moral values are consistent among cultures, such as not committing murder, theft, assault, or fraud. They can better be described as "ethics". "Moral" considerations involving eating, drinking, smoking, entertainment, attire, consensual sex, etc. vary from culture to culture. In a free nation, it's best for government to butt out of those.

If I were a heathen of a foreign land with the knowledge of what America's "freedom" represents today, should the offer of such "freedom" be given, I think I'd just say "No, thank you."

In the worst of all worlds, liberal feminists would trash and hamstring a President fighting against a worldwide enemy that would rape and beat the absolute crap out of liberal feminists, before decapitating them with a dull blade.

The stupidity of pig-ignorant democrats knows no bounds.

Buchanan is hitting on the right themes but fails to emphasize that we are still the world's best nation from a morality standpoint and therefore we have the "high ground" when going after the evil terrorists.

When Bush keeps referring to freedom, I too wonder sometimes about "freedom to do what....kill more babies in the womb?". Doesn't freedom really mean the ability or the environment to exercise a good moral choice?

Immorality is a national security risk.
