I was traveling on business Friday and after SAM28000 lifted off, the station I was listening to played Ray's rendition of "America, The Beautiful." I had to stop and wipe the tears from my eyes. We have been blessed with treasures far greater than gold.

We we privileged to hear Ray perform live, one time, and he was really a showman. He overcame many obsticles that would have taken down a lesser person, but Ray just kept on keeping on. I bet he gets to play for the Sunday Service in Heaven.

I want to say something else about Ray Charles. I never once saw him without a smile on his face. What an incredible guy!

I like the comment somebody made when they heard Ray Charles had passed away .. God called him home to entertain the BIG MAN who had just arrived.

...You said it...

...I remember him being on SNL, and Dan Ackroyd was Tom Snyder. He was interviewing Charles, and one of the questions was, "There was a movie, Ray, about a deaf and blind girl, Helen Keller, and what she acomplished in life. Did you see that movie Ray"? RC said, "No Tom, I didn't see that one". He played it perfectly. RIP, Ray Charles...
