Trial by Media

Let's face it trials are getting more and more lengthy and costly. But there is a clear and evident solution right infront of our eyes. The Media.

Since they and their expert witnesses are presenting ALL of the evidence and trying cases on televsion it would seem that the proper thing to do is follow through with some slight modifications.

We should be able to eliminate judges, lawyers and the jury right? Who enjoys serving on jury duty?

Next continue in the same vein and set up a 900 Number for interested spectators to call and register their vote for "gulty" or "innocent". Can you imagine how quickly a verdict could be determined? Talk about a speedy trial.

Best of all the 900 number could generate income to help pay for the proceedings including whatever legal expenses might be required. In addition the commercial sponsors to the networks would be picking up expenses to present the trial.

Now if this is too extreme go ahead and present the trial on the media with a judge and the lawyers for the defense, prosecution and the witnesses but eliminate the jury. Trial by 900 number @$2.95 per caller and watch the bucks $$ roll in. Could pay the legal expenses right? Why should taxpayers be required to pay for these carnivals? (sarcasm off)

We have O.J.Simpson, Kobe Bryant and now Scott Peterson to serve as examples.
