John Kerry to make speech at Kennedy Space Center Monday, July 26th

As part of his pre-convention getting to know him tour, John Kerry is coming to the Kennedy Space Center on Monday July 26th accompanied by ex-astronaut John Glenn to talk about ... healthcare!

[I'm posting this as a vanity since Florida Today refuses to allow us to post even headlines. Since this is the hometown paper for the Kennedy Space Center, it is the only one carrying this local story with national import. Go figure. You can go there to read the article but why give a Gannett paper the hits?]

Huh? Healthcare at the space center? Dragging along an ex-astronaut? Does Kerry have his agencies mixed up? Did his speechwriters slip in the wrong text? Did his manual cut and paste process go awry? This is very strange unless perhaps he plans to slam Bush's Mars policy as wasting money that could be spent on healthcare (totally ignoring all the spinoffs from the space program). Very strange!

...since Florida Today refuses to allow us to post even headlines...

Locals refer to the Florida Today as the "red paper".

Both for it's weird reddish-orange logo and the fact that it's editors are far far left wing. (founded by Al Neuarth...'nuff said)

Please ping the space list ... there is something strange about the mix of topic and backdrop here.

he plans to slam Bush's Mars policy

Exactly. Kerry will reallocate NASA funding to what he thinks are better social programs.

If Kerry would open a Land Office to register claims to outer space resources he would be on the right track. But he won't.

I think that is this the case. I thought John Glenn was for the space proposal.

This is a case of birds of a feather. Stop and think about it, glenn fights commies then backs commies as kerry fought commies and also then backed commies. Birds of a feather flock together.

Our NSS club was at the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Love Field in Dallas. We were commemrating the Apollo 11 35th Anniversay. Today is the 35 anniversary of their splash down. One of my Space Cadet buddies heard that Congress has cut NASA's budget by $1 Billion for next year.

We need to continue to fertilize the likes of Rutan, Musk, Carmack and Bigelow!!! Go SpacePlane1. As I understand the offical notification of the X Prize attempt will be made by Scaled Composites this coming week. This is one of the rules for "goin' for the prize"!

FReep UPDATE from McMuffin:

Second correction:

We have confirmed that John Kerry has flip-flopped again so we are flip-flopping with him. He was staying at the Radisson (security concerns), Then the Hilton Cocoa Beach (remodeling) and finally at the Courtyard by Marriott Courtyard in Cocoa Beach at 3425 N. Atlantic Ave. (On A1A about ¼ mile south of SR 520). We have decided to move the sign waving in front of the Marriott along A1A still at 7:30am till around 8:30 or whenever he leaves. We will park across the street in the Riverside Presbyterian Church parking lot. Bring your flip-flops to wave and any homemade signs you want to wave. We have Bush Rally signs. We will also have some people north on A1A by the Radisson (those that don’t get this email) since the press corps is staying at the Best Western in Cape Canaveral and we will then catch them as they go to the meeting at the Debus Conf. Center at the KSC Visitor Center where he will be speaking.

There are a number of Veterans from Vero Beach that are planning to go to the Titusville Airport (Space Port Regional) on Sunday evening and attempt to meet John as he lands there. He is supposed to be flying in at around 6:30pm or 7pm. (Or will he flip-flop and land at Melbourne)?

Sorry for all the confusion but that’s life with flip-flop John Kerry. See you Monday morning.

And I [McMuffin] plan to be at the TICO/Space coast Regional Airport late Sunday afternoon!
